Your support has provided our students with an incredible opportunity to engage in hands-on, creative learning experiences that bring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to life.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the printer, my students have been able to explore the entire design process from concept to creation. They began by learning to draw 3D shapes on isometric graph paper and then progressed to creating detailed multi-view sketches. Using linking cubes, students designed their own puzzle cubes—each consisting of five unique pieces made up of five or six smaller cubes. After completing the physical prototypes, they transferred their designs into Tinkercad, a computer-aided design platform, to create digital models of each puzzle piece. The final step was printing their designs on our 3D printer, where they could hold and test the results of their hard work and creativity.\r\n\r\nThis experience has not only deepened students' understanding of spatial reasoning and design principles but has also inspired excitement and curiosity about engineering and technology. None of this would have been possible without your generosity. Thank you for investing in our students and helping us bring innovation and imagination into the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1745872458801,"projectUrl":"project/learning-engineering-with-3d-designs/9292353/","projectTitle":"Learning Engineering with 3D Designs","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lewis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10007880"},{"teacherId":10008834,"projectId":9297156,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our middle school social studies classroom! Your donations of colored pencils, dry erase markers, and mini globes will make a meaningful difference in how my students engage with history and geography each day.\r\n\r\nWith these supplies, students can color-code maps, label regions, participate in interactive lessons, and collaborate more effectively during group work. The mini globes will bring geography to life, helping students make connections to the places we study. The dry erase markers will allow us to make learning visible through quick checks, map labeling, and interactive review games.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, lessons will be more hands-on, visual, and engaging. Thank you for allowing me to support my students more easily! The students were very excited about the new materials. So far they have applied Newton's concepts by modeling how energy transfers using Newton's cradle and modeled his first and second law of motion with the Newton's apparatus provided through this program.\r\nThey have also utilized NewPath Learning board games in the classroom and are looking forward to engaging with the online curriculum that came with this purchase that consists of standard based standards for mastery. The ecosystem game cards created a lot of excitement, as well. They loved the game and are looking forward to playing it again on review days. This is a drafting game that lets them create a diverse and thriving ecosystem. The graphics on these cards are stunning. \r\nNext steps for resources bought from Donors Choose will be to utilize an earthquake seismograph to read earthquake waves created by students manipulating an earthquake machine. My students were excited when they saw the machine. \r\nNone of these activities and experiences would have been possible without the Donors Choose program. The workbooks donated are already starting to pay dividends toward student mastery of social and financial literacy goals, with our initial progress monitoring showing great improvement in understanding of these topics. \r\n\r\nThe cooldown and destressing materials have helped our students with emotional regulation issues have a much greater chance for success as well. On days when things have been hard for them to master their emotions due to outside stimuli, these materials have helped them to re-center and calm themselves in a much shorter time than would have been done otherwise, creating a better experience for all of our students. \r\n\r\nLastly, the use of the portable scanner has been incredibly helpful in managing the paperwork connected to a classroom with as many special needs as ours. This technology has also helped us to share the achievements that our students have made with their parents and regular education teachers as well.","fullyFundedDate":1755521974830,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-and-life-skills-for-special-need/9380774/","projectTitle":"Sensory and Life Skills for Special Needs Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Burns","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10044318"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58634","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":291,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":97,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":58634,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Owsley County Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Owsley County Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/owsley-county-school-district/owsley-co-junior-senior-high-school/58634"}
