We used the Puppets and whisper phones during our small group center time. We have used the resources wisely so the future 2nd grade classes have also used them. \r\nWe use the puppet to recreate stories, students use them during the readers theater and pretend to be different animals. This has helped students who are otherwise shy and have reading difficulties. They use the whisper phones during reading small group time to read books to themselves, and it has helped especially the low readers. \r\nMy students were thrilled when they first saw the puppets, they are kept in the classroom library as reading buddies in a basket. Students can pretend to be different characters and read with them. We use the whisper phones during our small group literacy reading with teacher. While I listen to other students read in small groups the other student read the book to themselves using whisper phones. These whisper phones helps them listen to their own voice while sounding letters and words, which in turn helps their reading skills. \r\nI have used these materials for the last 4-5 years in my second grade class. I plan to use them in the future class as well. I plan to use the puppets further for social emotional learning as well.","fullyFundedDate":1583527448050,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-jhas-2nd-grade-readers/4660073/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Jha’s 2nd-Grade Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. J.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5494471_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1530746192457","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5494471"},{"teacherId":5494471,"projectId":3389113,"letterContent":"We were thankful for the generous donations to our 1st grade classroom. The 1st grade classroom is a community of 24 kids with varying emotional, social and intellectual needs. The items that were donated were enough for all students to share and use during the small group instruction, specifically the reading center. \r\nThe small stools were comfortable to sit on and have been used during small group instruction, so were the feedback phone and Dr Seuss books.
