Your support helped bring in a wide variety of sensory fidgets that have already made a tremendous difference in the daily lives of my students. \r\n\r\nThe moment the box of fidgets arrived was unforgettable. My students' faces lit up with curiosity and excitement. They gathered around as I opened the packages, eagerly asking questions like, \"Are those for us?\" and \"Can we try them now?\" We've incorporated the fidgets into our daily routine with great success. They're learning to self-regulate and recognize what helps them stay focused.\r\n\r\nOur next project is collaborative storytelling activity. With their increased ability to focus and regulate their energy, thanks to the fidgets, I'm confident that this group work will go more smoothly and productively than ever.","fullyFundedDate":1756415367825,"projectUrl":"project/fidget-toys-are-small-handheld-objects/9531816/","projectTitle":"Fidget Toys are Small, Handheld Objects that Can Enhance Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hurt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10110740_orig.jpg?crop=953,954,x0,y38&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756479875085","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10110740"},{"teacherId":10042258,"projectId":9375341,"letterContent":"Since receiving the Cricut machine, I've been able to create personalized labels and visual aids that make it easier for my students to locate materials and navigate small group learning. The labeled bins and folders help students feel more independent and confident as they transition into our sessions. One student smiled and said, \"I love that I have my own spot now!\" It was a small but powerful moment that showed how much it meant to them.\r\n\r\nThe Cricut has genuinely transformed the way we set up and operate our learning stations. With less time spent searching for materials and more time spent engaging with texts, my students are more focused and enthusiastic about learning. We've already begun using the machine to support a reading challenge, where students track progress with custom-made bookmarks and charts. However, I am so excited to share an update about the materials you donated to our classroom.\r\nYou sent a calming spot visual poster which is so helpful for our calming area especially in my kindergarten classroom where students are learning how to manage their self-control when upset. This visual gives them options for calming strategies that they may not consider in the heat of the moment while they are upset. \r\nPerhaps one of my favorite items you donated is the Yaker Tracker which I call \"the giant\". It is a redlight that shows students the yellow light when they start getting loud and then it goes to red with a siren when it is too loud in the room (I tell the students they \"woke up the giant\" when this happens). This big ticket item has been a class management game changer! My new students are getting to learn the voice level they should be at in centers. It offers both visual and auditory cues which saves me from having to say \"it's too loud in here\" sixty times during small groups. We have been using this every single day.\r\nYou donated so many items which are being put to use daily and the students are being so responsible in taking care of our new materials. With the summer and start of school, getting our thank you package submitted to you is more delayed than I would have liked. However, I want to emphasize to you just how impactful your donation has been. Not only have my new students been mesmerized but I had some students from last year who visited my room and took note of everything that is new.\r\nSeveral of the donated items included photo backdrops which would be hung and changed out monthly - these backdrops are being hung in the hallway which connects all of our kindergarten classrooms. These backdrops were meant to keep the magic in K by having these massive images of a grand castle, for example. For Meet the Teacher, we had so many parents out in the hallway taking photos of their new kindergarteners in front of the \"back to school\" backdrop which I included a photo of. Even staff members and older students were taking pictures in front of it. We have had so many compliments and it has really raised morale and created such excitement in our building and it is all thanks to you.\r\nAs we continue the next weeks and get into the routine of school, we will be utilizing more of the donated items but I want to tell you just how thankful I am that you scared your generosity with us. However, I am so excited to share just how excited the students have been to use your donations!\r\nResearch shows that our kindergarten students learn the most with play based opportunities which is why I requested the specific toys I did. These toys pair well with our first literacy unit which covers properties of toys, writing about our favorite toys, and interacting with peers to get to know them. I requested toys that utilize teamwork, problem-solving skills, and use of conversation. The kids have been so excited to work together on the puzzles, play with the sandwich shop counters, and build cities with the magna tiles. \r\nOur classroom did not have toys prior to your donation (none were left behind by the former teacher and unfortunately kindergarten no longer emphasizes play). When I say your donation literally changed how centers run, I mean it. If we were doing centers right now, we would have to use worksheets which would not be appropriate for the beginning of the year and it would not add much educational value to their learning experience.\r\nYour donations are being used daily and the kids are taking such good care of the items. The board game was definitely their favorite and I loved it because they were having to count and learn even though they didn't feel like they were.\r\nOne of my favorite things that you donated to my classroom was a case for a technological device my school gave to every classroom called a PocketTalk. They would only fund the device itself but not a protective case and the case is a very specific kind. This device is a translator and it helps me communicate with my high population of Hispanic students. Before, I always left the device laying around because I never had pockets which meant I never had it when I really needed it. Because you donated the case, I now have a lanyard attached to it to wear it around my neck at all times. I can translate to my students and they can talk back to me in real time. This has made all the difference, if you only knew.\r\nWe use these materials daily and I am so grateful you chose us to donate to.
