When I submitted this project to Donors Choose, I did not know how the books on Indigenous people would impact my school. \r\n\r\nI created a book display that I planned for November. The book display has a dress form wearing a T-shirt in support of indigenous women who have been abducted. The books are arranged together, with nonfiction and fiction. \r\n\r\nI first noticed the speech pathologist perusing the shelves and using the books with her students. Then, I saw teachers doing thse same. They either read the books in the Library or took them to their classrooms. I was most excited when students started checking the books out without any prompting. \r\n\r\nThe temporary book display has become permanent. I requested these books to help create globally and culturally competent students, but something special happened.
