The moment they saw the new materials, the room exploded with excitement—several students immediately started brainstorming their first big idea: a full robot battle!\r\n\r\nSince then, we've used the new tools to explore the foundations of coding and engineering. Students are learning how to write sequences of code to control motors, sensors, and movement. One of their favorite classroom moments so far has been programming their robots to navigate a mini obstacle course—celebrating each time a robot successfully avoided a barrier or completed a turn they coded themselves.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are even more ambitious. Students will soon be using their robots to rearrange \"payloads,\" practicing precision, planning, and problem-solving as they improve their code. Several students are preparing to take what they've learned and compete in upcoming robotics competitions, something that wouldn't have been possible without these resources.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just provide materials—it opened the door to creativity, teamwork, and STEM opportunities that these students will carry with them for years. The Makedo tools allowed them to safely cut and shape cardboard into anything they imagined, which opened up a whole new level of creativity and innovation in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThis project made abstract science concepts tangible—students could see how materials, structure, and design choices affect performance. Because of these materials, I was able to guide my students through every step of the design cycle—planning, building, testing, and refining—all while keeping them deeply engaged and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you, Ripple, for empowering my students to think like engineers and for inspiring their creativity through hands-on exploration and design!","fullyFundedDate":1758202745312,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-with-cardboard/9694920/","projectTitle":"Engineering With Cardboard","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. WHEELER","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5601368"},{"teacherId":5601368,"projectId":9300386,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity—and a special thank-you to General Motors—our classroom has been buzzing with creativity and discovery! What excites them most is bringing their stories to life, using Sphero as the \"main character\" in digital tales they script and animate themselves.\r\n\r\nSome of my quieter students have especially connected with this project—collaborating, problem-solving, and proudly showing off their creative tracks and storylines.
