Students have loved playing the boomwhackers and getting to make music in a different way. For the keyboards, I wanted to do a test unit with fifth grade. They loved it and many have asked for the link so that they can get one for them to play and practice at home. Many others already had keyboards with no knowledge of how to play them or understanding of how the white and black keys worked together. \r\nOne student in particular is a student on the spectrum who has trouble with excessive noises. With this keyboard, he was able to put on his headphones and play the keyboard until his heart was content. It was truly a magical moment and one that sparked so much joy in my heart that I have let him get a keyboard out when he is having a hard time and it has added so much peace to the classroom environment. \r\nMoving forward, I have a self contained special education class that I believe would be able to play the keyboards with some reworking of my unit and how they also love the boomwhackers. I have even considered trying the keyboarding unit with younger grades to plant the seeds of music making in them so they can be more invested and interested when they get to fifth grade and do more detailed lessons. I am elated to see where my program will go from here with your help!","fullyFundedDate":1760693809584,"projectUrl":"project/making-a-boom-in-the-music-room/9488926/","projectTitle":"Making a Boom in the Music Room","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Curry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10004576_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x329,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753155851839","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hootingowls"},{"teacherId":9065712,"projectId":9080696,"letterContent":"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping bring \"Sweet Success: Motivating Students with Treats and Prizes!\" to life! The excitement on my students' faces when they saw our new rewards, supplies, and treats was unforgettable. They couldn't believe these items were for them — \"We got ALL of this?!\" one student shouted with wide eyes. Your generosity created not just joy, but motivation, pride, and a renewed sense of effort in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe've already started using the new prizes as part of our behavior incentive system and academic goal-setting. Students earn rewards for demonstrating leadership, responsibility, and perseverance, and the tangible incentives are making a real difference. One student who struggled to stay on task has now completed five assignments in a row—just to earn a special prize from our new stash! These treats are reinforcing positive behavior and hard work in such a powerful way.\r\n\r\nNext, we're diving into summer learning stations and review games, where these prizes will continue to encourage participation and boost confidence.
