My students were so excited when the book box arrived! They begged me to open it and cheered as we revealed each book or book set! \r\nMy students have LOVED the Elephant and Piggie books! These books have made reading fun for my struggling readers. They have read each one and it has definitely helped grow them as a reader by finding a series that they actually enjoy. I have one particular student that used to refuse to read but will gladly read an Elephant and Piggie book because he loved finding the pigeon hidden on the inside covers. \r\nMy higher readers loved the Bad Guys set along with the Cat Kid books! There was a waiting list for the Cat Kid books at one point because they all wanted to read them!\r\nAll of these books have been well loved this year by my class as well as some of the other 2nd grade classes that have come to borrow my books. I love that that it inspires creativity and problem solving. They also enjoy the sensory items and the chew necklaces. I have a student that uses the necklaces daily. \r\n My favorite item is my laminator! I have been able to laminate many things and decorate my room with posters or charts that help my students learn and remember the things that we have taught. Thanks to each of your generous donations, I now have a mobile whiteboard and a class set of dry erase markers in my classroom that I can use for small group instruction as well as student led groups. My students can't wait for their small group to be able to use the \"new board that is super cool\" when we do student led groups. \r\nToday in my small groups we did a \"thinking task\" and one group in each class was assigned the new mobile whiteboard as their station. These students were so excited to be able to use this to work through the assigned math skill and display their knowledge of our current math concepts. My other students can't wait for their chance to be able to use this new board as well.\r\nThe class set of markers is such a blessing as well! Even though it is only September, I was already running low on student markers. Many of mine from previous years have dried up or just are not usable at this point. These markers will allow all students to be able to use their small whiteboards at their desks to work out math problems without using tons of paper every day! \r\nI am so excited about each of these items and I know they will have daily impacts in my classroom.
