Your support has profoundly impacted and transformed the lives of my students in ways that words alone cannot fully capture.\r\n\r\nCommunication is a fundamental human right, but for many of my students, expressing their thoughts, feelings, and needs has been a daily struggle. With the addition of these devices, that barrier is being lifted. These tools have become their voices, empowering them to engage with the world around them in ways that were previously unimaginable.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment we unboxed the devices, the excitement was felt. Students who once struggled to convey even the simplest requests are now independently expressing themselves. One of my students, who used to experience frequent frustration due to communication challenges, now beams with pride when using the device to say, \"I'm happy!\" or \"I need help.\" Moments like these are life-changing, not just for the student but for their families and peers who are witnessing this newfound sense of connection.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has not only provided a means for communication but also opened doors to learning opportunities that were previously out of reach. By using these devices, my students are engaging more actively in classroom activities, building their vocabulary, and participating in social interactions with their peers. It's heartwarming to see them included in ways that foster confidence and a sense of belonging.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these items extends beyond the immediate classroom. Other school professionals have shared stories of how the children now use the devices to express affection, share experiences, and advocate for their needs. These tools are creating bridges between the homeroom classroom to now across all school settings ensuring that our students' voices are heard in different aspects of the school day. \r\n\r\nYour support has also inspired a culture of compassion and understanding within our school community. Other students and staff are learning to appreciate the value of assistive technology and how it can unlock potential for individuals with unique needs. It's fostering an environment of inclusivity and acceptance that will leave a lasting impression on everyone involved.\r\n\r\nWords cannot adequately convey the gratitude we feel for your kindness and vision. You have not only provided tools but also hope, dignity, and a brighter future for my students. Your generosity serves as a reminder of the profound good that can happen when people come together to support one another.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of myself, my students, their families, and our entire school community, thank you for making a difference in our lives. Your support is priceless, and we will continue to cherish and make the most of the opportunities you have provided.\r\n\r\nWith deepest gratitude and appreciation,\r\nRebecca Thompson\r\nSpeech-Language Pathologist\r\nCuster Elementary School","fullyFundedDate":1708615587412,"projectUrl":"project/go-talk-be-my-voice/8215295/","projectTitle":"Go Talk, Be My Voice!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Becky","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9468533"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57818","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":158,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":57818,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Custer Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Custer Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/breckinridge-county-school-district/custer-elementary-school/57818"}
