The new materials you provided have quickly become an essential part of our day, supporting students' focus, regulation, and engagement in ways that were not possible before.\r\n\r\nHow we are using the new resources:\r\nWe have incorporated the sensory tools into small-group instruction, calm-down areas, and movement breaks. Students now have access to tactile bins, fidget tools, weighted items, and visual supports that help them stay regulated and ready to learn. These resources are used daily to help students transition between activities, build independence, and participate more comfortably in classroom routines.\r\n\r\nA specific project or moment:\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments happened during a literacy activity. We created a \"sensory storytelling station\" where students used textured materials, soft lighting, and movement items to act out parts of a story. For one student who typically struggles to remain engaged, the combination of sensory input and hands-on materials helped him stay focused from beginning to end—smiling, participating, and proudly sharing his part of the story with peers. It was a joyful reminder of the power these tools have to open doors for our learners.\r\n\r\nStudents' first reactions:\r\nWhen the bins and materials were first opened, the excitement in the room was unforgettable. Some students immediately reached for textures and colors that comfort them, while others needed time to explore quietly at their own pace. We saw wide eyes, happy flapping, big smiles, and even a few surprised giggles as they discovered tools that felt made for them. The room was filled with curiosity and calm—exactly what we hoped these items would bring.\r\n\r\nYour support has created meaningful, measurable change in our students' daily experiences. You didn't just donate materials—you gave our learners new ways to feel safe, confident, and connected. Thank you for investing in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1757005869671,"projectUrl":"project/make-it-make-sense/9331403/","projectTitle":"Make it make Sense!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lesley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1484031_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508036242065","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lesley-atwood"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57715","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":893,"numTeachers":64,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":65.4,"schoolId":57715,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Allen County Primary Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Allen County Primary Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/allen-county-school-district/allen-co-primary-center/57715"}
