Your donations have completely changed how my students learn science every day. From the rolling storage cart that keeps our classroom organized to the whiteboards that let every student share their answers, each item you gave us has become a huge part of our daily learning. As a new teacher, your support has given me the confidence to create fun, hands-on activities that I could only dream about before having these supplies.\r\n\r\nThe supplies you donated have completely changed our daily science class through what I call \"student bags\" - little kits with everything students need for any lesson. Each bag has a whiteboard, markers, eraser, scissors, clipboard, and paper, so students can quickly respond to questions, draw science pictures, and work through problems. Just last week, we used these supplies for a fun solar system project where students drew detailed pictures of moon phases and made models of how planets move around the sun using the big construction paper. The rolling cart has been a lifesaver for staying organized - I have different drawers for each week's materials, papers to grade, and supplies. The timers have made our classroom run so much smoother - students now keep track of their own restroom breaks and stay focused during timed work. I've also created a special student bulletin board using your supplies where kids share information about sports, birthdays, and write nice notes to each other, which has really helped build our classroom community.\r\n\r\nWhile my students didn't see these supplies being delivered since they arrived before school started, their reactions when they discovered these materials during our first weeks together have been absolutely amazing. The moment I showed them the student bags, they were excited they get to use all of these tools. \"We get to keep these at our desks all year?\" one student asked, holding her whiteboard like it was the best gift ever. Another student immediately started testing the scissors on scrap paper, that may not have been what they were supposed to do, but none the less they were enjoying the supplies. When I showed them the classroom bulletin board, students got so excited and couldn't wait to share things about their lives and write nice notes to their classmates. Using the whiteboards every day for vocabulary and answering questions has completely changed our classroom - now every student can participate at the same time, and I love watching my quiet students gain confidence as they proudly hold up their answers.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these supplies will help us do even more exciting science activities that will challenge and inspire my students. I'm planning to use the index cards so student teams can make flashcard sets for upcoming tests, which will make studying way more fun. The magnetic tape will display our classroom rules - helping students understand when they need to be quiet for tests versus when they can talk and move around during group work. For our weather unit coming up, we'll use the construction paper and art supplies to make big weather maps and track storms. These supplies will help us tackle harder topics like the earths systems, where students will use clipboards for outdoor observation activities. Your generosity hasn't just given us supplies - it has helped me bring science to life for my students in ways that will make them curious and excited about learning long after they leave my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1750359174892,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-teacher-in-need-of-classroom/9418380/","projectTitle":"First-Year Teacher in Need of Classroom Essentials for Student Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10057916_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750127960719","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10057916"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_98750","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":299,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":50,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":64.1,"schoolId":98750,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Turner Sixth Grade Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Turner Sixth Grade Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/turner-unified-school-district-202/turner-early-learning-center/98750"}
