These \"vertical non-permanent surfaces,\" as we call them, make thinking visible — students are up, talking, reasoning, and engaging deeply with each other's ideas. It's amazing to see how confident they've become as mathematicians who can explain their reasoning out loud and in writing.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came during a partner math challenge where each group tackled the same problem in a different way — the buzz of collaboration, discussion in both English and Spanish, and the joy of discovery filled the room. The whiteboards made it possible for everyone to contribute, revise, and share ideas freely.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to expand the use of these boards beyond math. My students are excited to use them for vocabulary practice, reading comprehension discussions, and even social-emotional reflections.
