One moment that really stood out was watching a group of students create teams, set fair rules, and solve a disagreement calmly so they could keep playing. They love any opportunity to write on whiteboards, and these sturdy, easy-to-move boards have quickly become one of our most valuable classroom tools.\r\n\r\nWe use them daily during rich, bilingual math tasks where students work in pairs or small groups to solve complex problems. These \"vertical non-permanent surfaces,\" as we call them, make thinking visible — students are up, talking, reasoning, and engaging deeply with each other's ideas. It's amazing to see how confident they've become as mathematicians who can explain their reasoning out loud and in writing.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came during a partner math challenge where each group tackled the same problem in a different way — the buzz of collaboration, discussion in both English and Spanish, and the joy of discovery filled the room. The whiteboards made it possible for everyone to contribute, revise, and share ideas freely.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to expand the use of these boards beyond math. My students are excited to use them for vocabulary practice, reading comprehension discussions, and even social-emotional reflections.
