These new texts have not only captured their imaginations but have also become powerful tools in building critical literacy skills. With these books, we've focused on developing inference, summarizing, vocabulary in context, and comprehension strategies—skills that are foundational for lifelong readers. Students are also learning to connect themes across texts and apply them to their own lives, making reading a much more meaningful and personal experience.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become a vibrant, engaging time of day. Students eagerly gather their books during independent reading, participate in lively group discussions, and practice close reading strategies in small groups. One student who previously struggled to stay engaged during reading time now rushes in each morning to continue her graphic novel series—something that's made a huge difference in her confidence and motivation. Another student, who is learning English as a second language, has found great joy in bilingual books that reflect his culture and experiences. These new books are helping every student feel seen, capable, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nWe're so grateful for your role in making this possible.
