Students couldn't wait to explore. The students rushed to the building sets to create towers and bridges, while others gravitated toward the dramatic play and small world centers, acting out stories with dolls and animals. The new materials immediately sparked curiosity and collaboration; one group proudly announced, \"Look, we made a whole city!\" while another invited friends to join their pretend grocery store and practice taking turns.\r\n\r\nThese resources have transformed our daily learning. The STEM and building centers now encourage critical thinking and problem-solving as children test ideas, adjust their designs, and work together to overcome challenges. Our quiet reading and calm-down spaces have become inviting spots for students to recharge, practice independence, and build a love of books by \"reading\" to themselves or to their dolls. Each day, I see more confidence, cooperation, and creativity as students make choices, try new things, and share their discoveries with classmates.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll use these materials to support student-led projects. The students are designing simple machines, building story settings to match books we read, and expanding pretend play to connect with social-emotional lessons about kindness and teamwork. Thank you for helping us create a space where brains are truly in action and learning through play happens every day. Your generosity made this possible and is helping my students grow as thinkers, creators, and friends.","fullyFundedDate":1755692328800,"projectUrl":"project/brains-in-action-learning-through-play/9440284/","projectTitle":"Brains in Action: Learning Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sewell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5008548_orig.jpg?crop=956,956,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1568893634255","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5008548"},{"teacherId":5008548,"projectId":9440253,"letterContent":"When our new rug and books arrived, the classroom instantly felt brighter and more inviting. The children were thrilled to see the colorful space come alive. Students gathered their favorite stuffed animals and dolls to \"read\" to them, while others sprawled out on the rug to look at picture books quietly. This new cozy corner has also become a calm-down area where students can reset, relax, and find comfort with a good book whenever they need it.\r\n\r\nWe're also seeing new energy in our STEM exploration area. Students build, design, and test ideas with curiosity and excitement, gathering on the rug to share what they've made or flipping through picture books to inspire new creations. The space has become a natural hub for collaboration and independent discovery, encouraging children to imagine, solve problems, and explore together.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue to use these resources to foster independent reading, peer storytelling, and hands-on STEM learning. Our students are learning how to take care of their new space, choose books that interest them, and use creativity to explore big ideas. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of an art easel. Your support has truly made an impact in our classroom, and I'd love to share how much it means to us. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the easel, their faces lit up with excitement! It has quickly become a central part of our creative space, and they've been eager to use it every day. The students love using the easel during play time and using their imagination to create different art projects. It's been incredible to see their confidence grow as they explore new artistic techniques. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students the tools to express themselves in new ways, and they are already looking forward to our next big project. Children need to be able to move around and do what is best for their bodies. I am lucky enough to have children when they first start their school careers. They are scared and nervous as it is. My job is to assure them they are brave enough and can do things. I am teaching them to listen to their bodies and to do what is best for their learning. My job is also to teach children how to be brave and do things independently. I am teaching them to be independent and responsible. I want all children to be happy and succeed in school. \r\n\r\nBy using this flexible seating, I am teaching children how to do all these things. Every day, the children get to decide what is best for them. They get to choose how they want to learn. They are taking ownership of their learning. They get to choose if they sit in a rocking chair, in a regular chair, on the floor with or without a cushion, or in a comfy floor seat. We sit around the carpet as a group, and they get comfortable while learning. Not only do they get to do this on the whole carpet, but also their desks. I have regular-size desks for them to sit at and regular or wobbly chairs. I have a lower table for them with little chairs, cushions, or floor. I also have small individual desks on the floor if they need to be alone. They can choose the floor, cushion, or rocking chair on these desks. By letting children make their own decisions, they take ownership of their learning and understand who they are. None of these could have been made without the fantastic donors' help!","fullyFundedDate":1733417550265,"projectUrl":"project/prek-flexible-seating/8793222/","projectTitle":"PreK Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sewell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5008548_orig.jpg?crop=956,956,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1568893634255","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5008548"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56947","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":468,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":78.0,"schoolId":56947,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rosehill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rosehill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/shawnee-mission-school-district/rosehill-elementary-school/56947"}
