The tall bookcase immediately gave students a sense of ownership over their materials. On the very first day we introduced it, students were excited to have \"their spot,\" and many proudly organized their folders and notebooks on their class shelves. It has already helped build responsibility. \r\n\r\nThe book bins have reduced the time we spend passing out and locating supplies. Each table group has the appropriate number of books located in them. As we begin reading for the days lesson students are able to easily locate their book and place it carefully back after they are done. This keeps their work space clean and free of clutter.\r\n\r\nSticky notes have quickly become a favorite classroom tool. Students use them during reading workshops to track themes, ask questions, and leave reflections on texts. Recently, during a close reading lesson, students filled our anchor chart with sticky-note observations and inferences, creating a powerful visual of their thinking. They loved seeing how their individual ideas contributed to our whole-class understanding.\r\n\r\nThe cabinet organizers have also made a huge difference by cutting down on clutter and making our daily routines more efficient. Books not in use for the days lesson is easily stowed in the organizer. This keeps the books displayed for students to have books to look forward to as the year progresses and a visabile reminder of what they have learned so far. \r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue supporting our next steps in literacy workshops, collaborative projects, and student goal setting. Because our systems are now stronger, students are spending more time engaged in meaningful learning and less time managing materials. Your support has truly helped create a classroom environment where over one hundred students each year can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1769177523905,"projectUrl":"project/helping-students-thrive-in-an-organized/9748425/","projectTitle":"Helping Students Thrive in an Organized Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Seeley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10266833"},{"teacherId":10266833,"projectId":9722206,"letterContent":"Thank You for Bringing Storytelling to Life in Our Classroom\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our literature and film students are no longer just analyzing stories — they are creating them. The addition of five cameras, hard cases, and memory cards has completely transformed how my students engage with narrative structure, character development, theme, and cinematic technique. Instead of only discussing how a director uses camera angles, lighting, or pacing, students now actively apply those concepts themselves. This technology has allowed them to move from theory to practice, deepening their understanding of how storytelling works across both literature and film.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting to watch is the shift in student ownership. When students hold a camera, they think differently. They consider framing, composition, sound, and movement with intention. They revise scenes not because they were told to, but because they see how a small change in lighting or shot choice alters meaning. The equipment has also elevated the professionalism of their work — they treat the projects as real productions. The hard cases and memory cards have allowed us to manage equipment responsibly while giving students authentic filmmaking experiences.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who are typically quiet in traditional discussion settings have truly flourished. One student who rarely speaks during literary analysis has become a natural cinematographer, carefully planning shots and coaching peers through visual composition. Another group of students who struggled with written essays found confidence in adapting scenes into short films, demonstrating deep understanding through visual storytelling. The cameras have given different learners new pathways to show mastery. Your support has not only provided equipment — it has expanded what learning looks like in our classroom. Thank you for investing in creativity, collaboration, and student voice.","fullyFundedDate":1764704284280,"projectUrl":"project/page-to-screen-empowering-students-to-c/9722206/","projectTitle":"Page to Screen: Empowering Students to Create Original Cinema Stories","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Seeley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10266833"},{"teacherId":10113259,"projectId":9951657,"letterContent":"The addition of the molecular model kits allows me to expand on current lessons and give students a hands-on experience in the classroom and laboratory settings. The model kits let me make sure that every student is able to build and manipulate the molecules involved in photosynthesis and cellular respiration, following atoms through the process and making sure that students eliminate common misconceptions along the way. These model kits will also allow me to expand my teaching and give students a deeper grasp of the structure of the various macromolecule types found in living organisms, allowing them to see similarities and differences in the molecules.","fullyFundedDate":1769177524068,"projectUrl":"project/make-lab-hands-on-again/9951657/","projectTitle":"Make Lab Hands-on Again","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Seeley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10113259"},{"teacherId":10113259,"projectId":9539897,"letterContent":"The addition of the new microscope camera has enabled me to change the way I teach science. In the past, I had to rely on drawings, models, or have students cycle individually through my demonstration scope showing them what they should see on theirs, an approach that often left many disengaged. Now, I can project live microscopic images for the whole class to see at once. This allows me to walk students through detailed structures step by step, pointing out important features in real time. It has made my demonstrations more efficient and has ensured that every student has equal access to the same clear and exciting view.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is seeing complex concepts come to life right in front of them. Instead of struggling to imagine what structures look like, they can watch me zoom in on them and then connect those visuals directly to what we have discussed in class. The shared viewing experience also encourages more classwide discussion and questioning, since everyone is seeing the same image at the same moment.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of using this tool has been watching students who normally hang back during labs become more engaged during demonstrations. With the camera projecting images, I've noticed more hands go up and more thoughtful questions are asked. By being able to clearly show the entire class what I want them to focus on, I can keep everyone on the same page and deepen their understanding. Thanks to your support, I am able to make science demonstrations more vivid, collaborative, and meaningful for all of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1758036177815,"projectUrl":"project/make-lab-fun-again/9539897/","projectTitle":"Make Lab Fun Again","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Seeley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10113259"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56658","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1035,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":40.9,"schoolId":56658,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pittsburg High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pittsburg High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/pittsburg-unified-school-district-250/pittsburg-high-school/56658"}
