My students were so excited when the greenhouse arrived and several helped me with assembly and setup. This greenhouse has been an integral part of our classroom already this year. We have been experimenting with different kinds of seeds, watering techniques, temperature, and lighting. \r\n\r\nEvery single student has been able to access the greenhouse shelves for an experiment lasting 2 weeks or more. They will continue to plan independent experiments throughout the year even after our horticulture unit ends.\r\nSeveral other teachers in the building have also been interested and inspired by my students' projects and I am sharing our learning progress with others.","fullyFundedDate":1750359172903,"projectUrl":"project/indoor-garden-for-hands-on-science/9318628/","projectTitle":"Indoor Garden for Hands-on Science","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. LaFollette","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9493996_orig.jpg?crop=1520,1520,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723158056976","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/uniquestudies"},{"teacherId":9493996,"projectId":8606066,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making the music happen in our classroom! We have been enjoying the new full-size piano so much. Here are few examples of how students have been using it. \r\n\r\n1) Some students have elected to spend their independent study time learning to play music for the very first time. They are studying basic notes and simple songs.\r\n2) Some students who already have piano experience have elected to compose songs with chords and melodies that can be recorded and mixed later on a computer.\r\n3) Many students do not have access to a high quality musical instrument in their homes and even though they have some experience, they just like to sit and practice after school. \r\n\r\nThe high quality headphones and chord books have made the entire experience even more special because kids can practice silently without fear of peers overhearing their mistakes. Then when they are ready for recognition, they just unplug the headphones to begin a performance. Your generosity has made all this possible and is providing a unique experience for students to learn and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1730724658020,"projectUrl":"project/piano-practice-lab-for-independent-music/8606066/","projectTitle":"Piano Practice Lab for Independent Musical Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. LaFollette","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9493996_orig.jpg?crop=1520,1520,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723158056976","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/uniquestudies"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54991","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":681,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":28,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"22.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":54991,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Piper Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Piper Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/piper-unified-school-district-203/piper-middle-school/54991"}
