The students loved seeing all the packages arrive in our classroom! With each new box, it was something to look forward to...a game, a book, a new math manipulative! What a treat for us all.\r\n\r\nPlaying math games has been so much easier with our new playing cards and containers to keep us organzied. Now playing a math game is easy to start, clean up and our fresh new supplies are amazing. The books we recieved have helped us get poetry in our hands as we work on a poetry unit in our class. We have also loved creating poetry with our new magnetic poems. \r\n\r\nWe also have enjoyed new games that help us better learn how to play together, working on those SEL skills in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThanks for your generous donation! We appreciate you all!","fullyFundedDate":1755566215322,"projectUrl":"project/read-play-and-learn-4th-grade/9513063/","projectTitle":"Read, Play, and Learn - 4th-grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Newkirk","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9423734_orig.jpg?crop=1581,1581,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753820746584","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9423734"},{"teacherId":8805215,"projectId":9179663,"letterContent":"We love the Paint by Stickers Books provided by this project. The one on dinosaurs has been a real hit. One of my students who struggles with vocabulary and reading is totally passionate about dinosaurs and can tell the entire class details about all kinds of dinosaurs. He was always very eager to work hard on his reading lesson in order to earn a 5 minute break to work on his dinosaur sticker book. \r\n\r\nOne of the very cool things about these sticker books is that it takes more than one break to finish a picture. It usually takes multiple breaks and a couple of days to get one done. They helps my students learn the grit of staying with a project until it is done and having something to look forward to for each of their breaks. They are very proud to take home the finished project when one of the pages is completed. Or sometimes, they let me decorate my bulletin board with them which also fills them with pride.","fullyFundedDate":1742744644284,"projectUrl":"project/earned-a-break-lets-have-fun/9179663/","projectTitle":"Earned a Break?- Let's Have Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ness","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8805215"},{"teacherId":8805215,"projectId":9131305,"letterContent":"We started our new school year with bright, new items funded by this project. Students loved the new kidney table where we can easily see each other and learn together during group instruction. \r\n The bright rug showing the 7 continents was a bit hit in our sensory corner. It brings a cheerful atmosphere when we sit in our comfy chairs around the rug to discuss emotions and how to regulate them. One of my very bright students loves to walk from continent to continent naming them. This has led to discussions about where he lives in relation to the rest of the world, why some continents are cooler or warmer than others, what direction you would travel to visit different locations, and so much more. \r\n The new game items such as the giant checkers, the Jenga game, Battleship, and Marble Maze have encouraged students to regulate their behaviors in the general education classrooms so they can earn a break playing a fun game with a friend or staff member. It has been fun to watch students develop strategy skills and fine tune communication skills while playing.","fullyFundedDate":1740848313670,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-diverse-learning-styles/9131305/","projectTitle":"Supporting Diverse Learning Styles","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ness","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8805215"},{"teacherId":5980441,"projectId":9148219,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to help fund my core word workboxes! The year has just started and students are already loving them. I was able to complete 12 workboxes so far and have plans to make more a the year goes on. The workboxes all contain activities that focus on specific core words that my students who use augmentative alternative communication devices are learning. Students have found these activities fun and engaging and are able to see the various functions each of these words can serve. I use them during our speech sessions and they are also available for staff members to check out to help with carryover of skills outside of my room.\r\nWhen students first saw the boxes they were immediately drawn to the toys. They became more engaged in sessions and were using their communication devices more. The staff members working with my students also enjoyed having ready to go ideas and activities that they can use with students learning to use communication devices. These workboxes have improved staff knowledge of how to model language, how to engage students and how to use words to teach a variety of functions. \r\nThe workboxes have been such a great success that I plan to make more boxes as the year goes on. I've also started using them with students who don't use communication devices, but need additional instruction in language. These have quickly become a favorite activity in my room.
