The kids faces lit up when they saw the size of the board and realized they had enough space for trial and error. These have been used for large group lessons, partner games, review sessions, and more. \r\n\r\nJust this week, we are learning how to find equivalent ratios using coordinate planes. Many are struggling with this fairly simple concept because of the lack of visual practice in our book. I got out the large magnetic coordinate plan to work through sample problems and with their whiteboards, they could mimic my coordinate plane and then use the space to practice equivalent ratios. It has changed their learning and understanding. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generous donation and making our classroom an easier place to learn!","fullyFundedDate":1757376877329,"projectUrl":"project/work-it-out/9687943/","projectTitle":"Work It Out!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Acheson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10243764"},{"teacherId":7839829,"projectId":9563905,"letterContent":"We want to thank you so very much for your donations to make it possible for our students to experience a Van de Graaff Generator. We have been talking about different types of energy in Science, and this gave them a hands on experience and lasting impression using electrical energy. I honestly don't think I have ever seen our students SO engaged as they were during the presentation with our new equipment yesterday. Even the most withdrawn and difficult students gave the Van de Graaff Generator a try! Students were anxious to hold hands to see if they could feel the energy transfer. One student asked if we could make a full circle in order to test the machine. Others were willing to bow their heads forward to see the impact it made on their hair. By seventh hour, students entered asking when they would get to be 'electrocuted.' No longer do we have arguments over who gets a \"good\" seat, or put all seats away and deal with sitting on the floor. With our age students, this often leads to poor posture and inevitably laying down and less singing! Unboxing day was a joyful, chaotic happening in the 7th grade girls choir. \"Real stools!\" \"Finally!\" \"Yesssss\" and high fives all around really added to the joy of the semester. \r\n\r\nFor me their teacher, it is so much easier to see poor or good posture as they rehearse. I know it has improved our sound and engagement in the music. I have had students try to tip these stools, and it doesn't work much at all. It is a true relief to have seats that are safe and supportive to good habits. \r\n\r\nI have also taken the step of labeling each stool by number, so the students' class number corresponds to the stool number. Our choir classes are 24 and under this year, so requiring students to use a certain stool helps create ownership. They now that any scratches, drawings, or dents on their stools could be reported the following class, and they are on the hook for repairing or replacing the stool. Middle school teachers often say to each other \"This is why we can't have nice things.\" when seeing how rough the students are on their own belongings, let alone classroom materials. As a teacher, you have to model taking good care of what you have been loaned, and create consequences if that is not followed. These gifts aren't taken lightly, and we really appreciate your support.","fullyFundedDate":1733261197049,"projectUrl":"project/support-a-singer-literally-durable-sto/8808081/","projectTitle":"Support a Singer, Literally: Durable Stools for Choir","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Binek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9769860_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726864832995","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9769860"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69809","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":570,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":15,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":72,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":69809,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chisholm Trail Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chisholm Trail Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/olathe-public-schools-usd-233/chisholm-trail-junior-high-school/69809"}
