Our new stop motion animation tools have been incredibly exciting for my students because it gives them a hands-on, creative way to bring their ideas to life. When I first introduced the supplies to my students, they immediately began making connections to movies they had seen and other experiences they had with animation. Some students used the cameras, backdrops, and Stikbots to create stop motion videos of the circuit cars they built during our clubs time, while others created completely original animations using various art supplies.\r\n\r\nThrough these projects, I have especially noticed students who may not always shine in traditional assignments become deeply engaged. Some students who enjoy storytelling really came alive during the planning and storyboarding process, while others loved the technical side of setting up scenes and making tiny movements to create their animation. I am especially excited for next fall when I can fully integrate these supplies into our food chain project in my STEAM classroom, which previously was animated digitally on Google Slides using clipart. Now, students will be able to get fully hands-on with their animation, adding their own creative flair! I am also looking forward to collaborating with our ELA classrooms so students can animate stories connected to their novels and other topics in their classrooms. These supplies will be a highlight of our STEAM classroom and will be enjoyed by many students for years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1763235773865,"projectUrl":"project/from-imagination-to-animation-a-steam-s/9537944/","projectTitle":"From Imagination to Animation: A STEAM Stop Motion Studio!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hatesohl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9648424_orig.jpg?crop=1365,1365,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741190723071","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/maggie-hatesohl"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133905","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":440,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":70,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"5 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":44.7,"schoolId":133905,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Maize Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Maize Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/maize-unified-school-district-266/maize-intermediate-school/133905"}
