When students come into my room, they are often leaving their peers to work on skills that are challenging for them. Other times, they come in because they need a quick break from the mentally taxing work they are doing in the general education classroom or simply need a safe place to calm down, reset, and get ready to learn again. Your donations have helped make our classroom a comfortable and welcoming place where students can get the support they need. And, of course, snacks are always a favorite! Learning difficult things takes a lot of energy, and sometimes a snack and a little encouragement are exactly what a student needs to keep going.\r\n\r\nAs you can see from the pictures, our weighted sloth has quickly become a classroom favorite! The students are even making a list of names for him so he can officially become part of our classroom family. He has already been a reading buddy, a table friend who provides calming pressure to help my wiggly students stay seated and focused, and a cozy companion on our calm-down carpet. The fidgets and pencils have also been put to good use as rewards for hard work and as tools for students who need to keep their hands busy in an appropriate way while they learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a classroom where my students can feel safe, supported, and successful. Your generosity has given them more than just supplies—it has provided comfort, motivation, and tools that help them tackle hard things with confidence. My students were so excited when they first saw all of the treats and rewards, and they loved knowing that their hard work and positive behavior could be celebrated.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to use these resources throughout our school day to encourage positive behavior and celebrate student success. It has been wonderful seeing students become proud of themselves when they earn a reward or are recognized for doing something positive. Instead of the recycled paper boxes, students now have sturdy, clearly labeled spaces that protect their artwork from bending, tearing, or getting lost. \r\n\r\nStudents were excited to have a dedicated space for their work. They use the tote trays daily to manage their materials and treated both their artwork and trays with care. The new trays help them feel valued and make their work feel more important.\r\n\r\nWe are currently make yarn art. With the Debcor Tote Trays, students of each class able to safely store works in progress and return to them over multiple class periods without damage.
