These texts have become a cornerstone of our lessons, helping students develop essential skills like vocabulary building, sentence structure, and cultural understanding. Through reading, they're not just learning a language—they're connecting with stories that spark curiosity and empathy.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now includes group discussions, partner activities, mini book clubs, and quiet moments where students immerse themselves in stories at their own pace. These book clubs have been a highlight, as students come together to share their favorite books, discuss themes, and explore how the stories connect to their own lives. It's incredible to see them lead these conversations and learn from one another in such meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThis project has opened up a world of possibilities for our students. The books bring real places, people, and experiences to life, allowing students to learn about diverse aspects of Hispanic culture without relying solely on lectures. For my heritage students, these books have been especially meaningful. They've found a sense of pride in their own language and identity, discovering stories written for them and about them. Additionally, the books highlight prominent Hispanic leaders throughout history, giving students a chance to understand the roots of the culture and how it has evolved over time.","fullyFundedDate":1730733508792,"projectUrl":"project/beyond-borders-bringing-language-learni/8902690/","projectTitle":"Beyond Borders: Bringing Language Learning to Life through Books","teacherDisplayName":"Sra.
