We wanted to make this a learning opportunity for our whole school to make it more equitable. The incubator is set up down in our entry way next to our mascot Dale's birdhouse! We posed two questions! \"What do you wonder?\" \"What questions do you have?\". The kids love to check-in everyday as they are making their way into the building. They are discussing what they have learned with each other and answering many of the questions they may have had earlier. \r\n\r\nEach classroom has been able to use the eggs/chicks however they would like. I have provided them with journals that are grade-level appropriate to use in way that works best for their students. We have a large population that doesn't quite speak English yet and they are loving learning the new words associated with this project. \r\n\r\nWhat's been really great about doing this project at this time, is that our new 3rd grade curriculum has stories around animals with feathers. The students are making so many great connections with what they are learning in the classroom and the process of hatching chicks. \r\n\r\nThe chicks are the buzz around the building, it's exciting to hear all the conversations the kids are having.
