The children were so excited to have some sturdy tables to use during outside recess. The first thing they did when they saw them was sit down and talk with their peers. They have used them to pretend to have a restaurant with the play kitchen center and as a pretend food prep area to make food that peers have ordered. They used them as seating areas to watch as the field behind the Preschool was combined and chisel plowed. This was a nice addition to a choice, as the cement was cold to sit on to watch them working.\r\n In the future, we are planning some outdoor craft activities and classroom snack times. In the spring, we would like to use them to encourage exploration of things that we find when the snow melts, and as an area where we sit and make observation drawings of things that we are seeing. We would also like to use them as an outdoor snack location and an area that we can utilize as the weather warms.","fullyFundedDate":1755691488566,"projectUrl":"project/social-outdoor-seating/9556358/","projectTitle":"Social Outdoor Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Milius","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3143953"},{"teacherId":9111263,"projectId":9225890,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom in fulfilling my \"Hands-On Learning: Boosting Fine Motor Skills in the Classroom\" project. The students were so elated when they saw the boxes show up in my room and 'oohed' and 'ahhed' as I unpacked them and showed them what was inside!\r\n\r\nWe spent over an hour moving through stations to explore each item and I spent significant time showing each of them the different pencil grips and how they are to be used correctly. It was fascinating to see how many students realized they had been holding their pencils incorrectly and how holding it correctly helped to improve their writing!\r\n\r\nNext steps for me with this project will be to remind them of the pencil grips and have them available for use whenever they choose. I will also use the busy boards, and specifically the shoe-lacing and tying components of these with individual students whom I have notice struggle with this. It was fun to hear when I was showing them these that several students said \"wait, how DO you lace a shoe? I know how to tie it, but I don't know how to lace it! Your generous donation helped them explore that skill.","fullyFundedDate":1744032859866,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-boosting-fine-motor-s/9225890/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning: Boosting Fine Motor Skills in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rathjens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9111263_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y230&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689972766334","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9111263"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_51097","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":219,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":44,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":75.2,"schoolId":51097,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tripoli Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tripoli Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/tripoli-community-school-district/tripoli-elementary-school/51097"}
