The whiteboards have allowed us to share our thoughts together before breaking down problems on our own. The rubber ducks have helped us move toward independence instead of always needing a human partner. We also use the whiteboard erasers when problem-solving at our seats with small whiteboards. \r\n\r\nAfter we learn a new problem-solving strategy and work it out on the whiteboard posters, we leave them up around the room to remind us how to use that strategy while working on other problems throughout the week. We were also able to show off our skills to an industry professional who visited our classroom and they gave us more tips on how to use whiteboards effectively while working with our groups. \r\n\r\nSo far we've been using these materials to learn about flowcharts, input/output/processing tables, pseudocode, arithmetic operators, variables, and functions. We also sometimes use the erasers when we're taking quick notes before solving problems, then erasing to solve new problems. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping us work together more collaboratively!","fullyFundedDate":1748635769499,"projectUrl":"project/computer-science-collaboration-materials/9382825/","projectTitle":"Computer Science Collaboration Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. West","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10045065"},{"teacherId":10045065,"projectId":9395643,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation for collaboration and differentiation tools for our classroom! These materials have helped me create stations and structure for collaboration at those stations so that all students can feel supported and receive the help they need. One of the photos shows the plastic holders with station instructions inside and clothespins with laminated group roles along the top. \r\n\r\nStudents used these roles and instructions to guide their station work and their responsibilities in supporting their groups so that I could focus on supporting a small group with direct instruction and feedback. We practiced this for a week and all 76 students in my class were able to complete their project steps successfully because they were able to get the help they needed! \r\n\r\nStructuring our class this way was much more successful than trying to get all students to work on the project steps independently or wait for time to get help from the teacher during class. The stations helped provide structure and support.
