When I left teaching a couple of years ago, I donated most of my personal belongings, having spent 27 years accumulating them to set up my classroom. I was surprised to realize how much I'd actually used over the years. I felt a sense of duty to pass these materials on to new teachers as a way to \"pay it forward\" and help them with their classroom setup. I wasn't sure if I'd return to teaching or not.\r\n\r\nSo, when I decided to come back, my biggest concern was setting up an inclusive preschool classroom with today's essentials for the diverse group of children who would be entering my classroom. If you're not aware, when you enter a public classroom, the only things provided are the essential furniture, technology, and materials for the curriculum. Everything else is up to the teacher.\r\n\r\nThat's when I thought of Donors Choose! I never expected my project to be funded, given the extensive list of materials I requested to set up an inclusive preschool classroom in 2025. I was on the verge of tears when I saw it had been funded! As the materials started arriving in my classroom over the summer, my excitement about being back in the classroom began to return. I spent my summer days setting up the room with all these wonderful materials. By the time we officially started the school year, I was ready! My room looks amazing, and I was eager to fill it with my little preschoolers.\r\n\r\nThe first day of school arrived, and the excitement on the children's faces when they saw the room was incredible! I work with children who have behavioral goals, and many of my students had no prior schooling experience. In the first two weeks, I've had no behavioral issues, the kids have been engaged, and learning has begun! I attribute much of the success in the first two weeks to my classroom setup and the materials funded through Donors Choose and my project.\r\n\r\nThank you, donors, thank you, Donors Choose!
