The black-and-white books and baby rings have already made a meaningful impact on the infants and families we serve through our Early Intervention program, including babies who are currently or have recently been in the NICU. These materials help support some of the earliest developmental skills, including visual attention, tracking, sensory exploration, reaching, grasping, and parent-child interaction. The high-contrast images in the books are especially engaging for young infants whose visual systems are still developing, while the baby rings encourage exploration and motor development.\r\n\r\nUnlike a traditional classroom, our \"classroom\" often takes place in families' homes and community settings. Reading with infants looks different than reading with older children. We coach parents on how to use books to build connection, talk about pictures, encourage eye contact, and support their baby's communication and early learning. These simple interactions help lay the foundation for language, literacy, and social-emotional development long before a child can speak or read independently.\r\n\r\nMany of the babies we work with have faced significant medical challenges and developmental risks. It has been wonderful to see families use these materials during visits and hear parents share how much their babies enjoy looking at the bold black-and-white images and exploring the rings with their hands. Your donation has provided families with practical tools they can use every day to support their child's growth and development. We are 3 weeks into school and the students are loving the math tools they have been interacting with! The ice cream cone counting and nuts and bolts have been a real hit. The nuts and bolts are wonderful as it is a self-correcting activity so not only do the students get a chance to get the answer right, but they also will know at the end of the activity if they were correct or not! The nuts and bolts have also been fun with the color matching! The LCD writing boards have been a fun and interactive way to get students using a writing utensil, develop their fine motor skills, as well as using their imagination! We are able to put these into multiple centers which then allows students to be creative in how they are using the writing boards.\r\nThey have loved the multiple writing modalities and experimenting with utensils they havn't used before. They also really love the sticky notes and writing little messages on them. They have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of using the stress stringy balls. They have been using them during play but also have used them as a way to calm down with they are in the classroom safe place. Learning to regulate emotions is such a big learning curve and giving students multiple opportunities to figure out which outlets work best for them.\r\nWe are also loving the sequence blanket. It is definitely used for our students who need more large motor movement as they spread out the blanket on the ground and use it to play with the sequence. It has been so much fun to see these materials in action when it comes to regulating bodies. Three and four year olds are very busy and sometimes a classroom can become very overstimulating and so having more options to help them to regulate themselves has been such an experience to see. There have been quite a few students who have used and loved the vibrating neck puppy. They often seek this as a calming activity when they need to take a break. It is also nice because it is a very student centered activity that the students can simply put around their neck to help regulate their emotions.\r\nThe body sock has also been a hit. It is fun for students to stretch out in but also move their bodies in ways they normally wouldn't do so. It has been fun to watch the students try different movements to help calm their bodies down.\r\nThank you so much for contributing to this project!
