During the end of the year last year some 5th graders finished astronomy projects with them, and 1st graders used them to complete their habitat drawings and cover pages. \r\n\r\nWhen I explained to my students that someone was generous enough to donate these things to our classroom, they were taken a back, some of them did not even know what the word donated meant. It was a great conversation to talk about what people in our community can do, and how much they care about our learning. Having this project funded also inspired many of my collegues to create DonorChoose accounts and help bring more materials to our school. \r\n\r\nI cannot wait to continue my work this year, but as I transition to a new school within Cedar Rapids Community School District I am reminded at how limited our supplies is which is why donors like you are so important! You make my day, everday, having materials that I did not have to pay out of pocket for, and my students days as well. I could not have afforded this project without the help of you. Your support plays a vital role in helping us create a place of learning and a 'home away from home' vibe. The students are going to be using the crayons for coloring and adding some life to their work. Right now with it being the end of the year, students are working on making creations for teachers, friends, and their families. With the help of these brand new crayons (which a lot of them did not have before), students are able to show off their artistic abilities in a colorful way. When we received the boxes, the students were eager to see what was in each one. It was like Christmas. The kids like the variety and enjoy keeping up with multiple snacks a day. They say thank you everytime we open one from our list. \r\n\r\nThey LOVE the playdoh and the toys for centers. It's so nice watching them be kids and express themselves.
