But taking our old whiteboard out of the picture and replacing it with something as clean and nice as our new one was more than I could have hoped for with this project.\r\n\r\nThis new board has been a game changer. In fact, several other teachers in the building got one after they saw mine! It sounds silly, but it is so nice being able to write anywhere on the board without it streaking. My kids can easily see what I write, and everything just looks so clean. I cannot thank you enough!\r\n\r\nThe folders and other materials have also been wonderful. This year, I was able to give every student a folder during the first week of school. We are now at the end of the first quarter, and the students are still using them! Papers actually go into the folders to go home instead of just getting thrown into book bags. Students are also keeping track of their own papers instead of giving everything to one friend to hold. In our school, every 5th period class has a mandatory 15 minutes of \"Drop Everything And Read\" (DEAR), and my student borrow my classroom library books often. The bins have made locating their favorite kinds of books much more efficient.\r\n\r\nThe pouches and art supplies are organized for each table group. This allows for students to remain in their assigned area and have access to all the supplies they need, without searching around the room for them and using work time locating supplies.\r\n\r\nI use the animal plushies as fidgets for students who need a little extra support to focus. These work wonderful for that purpose because they are noiseless and do not distract other students. The calming light covers and colorful window film have also helped create a softer, more welcoming classroom environment. These small changes have made a big difference in helping our classroom feel like a safe and comfortable place where students can focus and learn.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools, including the fidget toys and liquid motion bubbler, have been especially helpful for students who benefit from movement or sensory support while working. Students were immediately drawn to these new materials and were excited to have tools they could use appropriately to help themselves stay focused and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe composition notebooks, pencils, and Chromebook chargers are helping make sure students have the basic supplies they need to participate fully in classroom activities. We are using the notebooks for writing, reflection, and organizing our thoughts, while the additional supplies allow students to spend less time worrying about missing materials and more time engaged in learning.\r\n\r\nWe are also using the mental health and anxiety workbooks to help students develop strategies for recognizing and managing their emotions. Our next steps are to continue practicing these skills while applying them to everyday classroom situations. Students will continue learning how to identify what they need, use appropriate coping strategies, and advocate for themselves when they need support.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided much more than classroom supplies. This new whiteboard has been a perfect example of that in action. The novel Ghost helps to keep them engaged and on task because it is high interest and easy for them to relate to. Many of them become invested in the main character and are able to relate to him.
