A memorable moment was when a student used layers of glaze to recreate the colors of a fox's mottled coat. \r\n\r\nWhen we brought out the new glasses, students were very excited to have a wide variety of choices, rather than the limited and not as effective recycled glazes we had previously used for the last decade or so. For my multilingual students, finding engaging books in English can be especially difficult. Books that interest them are sometimes too complex, while easier books can feel too young for their age. This new book set has been incredibly helpful in bridging that gap for both my students and me.\r\n\r\nThe books in this collection share stories of young people who have come to the United States from many of the same countries as my students. These stories help students feel seen, understood, and connected. They were eager to try the sharpeners and noticed immediately how much smoother and easier they were to use. It might seem like a small thing, but having reliable materials has helped our classroom run more smoothly and has made students feel proud and responsible for taking care of shared resources.\r\n\r\nOne of the main projects we've completed using these supplies was our cell phone composition drawing. Over the course of about a week and a half, students filled their pages with overlapping cell phones and then drew anything they wanted inside each \"screen.\" The pencils allowed them to focus on details, clean lines, and shading, and the erasers gave them confidence to revise their work without fear of making mistakes. The excitement was obvious—students were highly engaged, took creative risks, and loved showing each other their imaginative phone screens.\r\n\r\nNext, we are building on this project by moving into more refined drawing and design skills, including adding color, discussing composition choices, and reflecting on how visual storytelling works. Students will continue practicing careful craftsmanship and creative thinking, using these materials every step of the way. Because of your support, my students now have access to computer chargers, headphones with microphones, and power strips—items that have already made a meaningful difference in our daily learning.\r\n\r\nThe computer chargers have been exceptionally helpful. Many of my classes are Resource periods, where students are expected to use this time to complete classwork and get extra academic support. Having chargers readily available removes a major barrier to productivity—students no longer have an excuse for unfinished work due to a dead device. In fact, the chargers are being used so frequently that several are already showing wear from constant use. I've even been able to share them with other teachers, and my classroom has become a sort of charging hub for students throughout the day, including those who are not in my classes.\r\n\r\nThe headphones with microphones have also been incredibly valuable. They allowed my students to practice listening and speaking in English as they prepared for their recent WIDA English language proficiency assessment. While not all students were initially thrilled with my color choice, they have grown comfortable using them regularly. The headphones have also helped students stay focused by blocking out distractions, and in some cases, listening to music while working has improved their concentration and engagement.\r\n\r\nFinally, the power strips were the perfect addition to our classroom setup. By attaching them to a few tables, multiple students are able to charge their devices at the same time, making the space more efficient and student-friendly.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has had an immediate and visible impact on my students' ability to learn, focus, and succeed.
