The fabric has brought more confidence when making and carrying their bag around school. I also have seen more kids keeping their bags rather than giving them to me or a friend. \r\n My next steps in the classroom is to get more projects started. For example I am going to have the students learn about finance through playing a pretend game of life. They will be looking at the real cost of things and comparing and making a monthly budget. Once this project is done they will play the game of life to see the more fun side.\r\n We also talk about babysitting so my students are going to partake in an egg baby. We started this project by reading the last two chapters together and talking about parasitic relationships. The students loved learning about real-life zombies such as the zombie bee which happens when a bee is \"hijacked\" by flies and explodes or a barnacle that tricks a crab into being a nanny for her babies. They learned so much throughout this project. \r\n\r\nThe other exciting part of this project was connecting it to microelectronics. My students used Sphero Bolt that our school already owned and we created a recreation of a major Indiana event-the Indianapolis 500. They used plastic cups and craft supplies to build a model of their zombie. Then they programmed their Zombie Sphero Bolt to race against the other zombies in their class on our race track. There was a lot of laughter as they problem solved and a little trash talk as they grew more confident in their codes. \r\n\r\nThanks to you my students were able to practice so many great skills: reading, writing, coding, math, science, problem solving, teamwork, communication. My students loved them and had some great discussions as they figured out which cards matched. They were such a fun way to review while keeping things relaxed and engaging.\r\n\r\nI received these cards during the week of ILEARN testing, and my students were able to play with the Stack cards during class time on those days. They had deep, thoughtful conversations as they decided which definitions matched the pictures and which cards went together. Typically, students could quickly figure out one or two parts of the match, but the final piece was always a bit tricky, which really pushed them to focus. It was amazing to listen to and watch how the groups problem-solved. Several students asked when they could use the cards again, and my advisory class has since used them multiple times.\r\n\r\nAs always, I couldn't do what I love without you.
