With disinfecting supplies and an organized cleaning schedule, they've taken responsibility for keeping our space disease-free. One memorable moment was watching students eagerly set up their cleaning stations, proud to take an active role in animal care.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were excited to see how professional the setup looked. They immediately took ownership, creating a routine to sanitize enclosures and supplies. This project has reinforced responsibility, teamwork, and real-world veterinary skills. Next, we'll focus on proper sanitation in medical settings, preparing students for future careers in animal science. During our dog breed unit, students explored different breeds while creating origami dogs, reinforcing their understanding of canine characteristics and history. The creative process helped engage students who learn best through tactile and visual activities, making the unit more inclusive and memorable. Additionally, students crafted their own bookmarks for Christmas, each featuring reading material about animals. This encouraged them to explore books beyond the classroom, fostering both creativity and a love for learning.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was seeing students excitedly share their origami dogs, explaining the unique traits of the breed they chose. Many even took their creations home to show their families, demonstrating how engaged they were in the lesson. Moving forward, I'm excited to continue integrating creative projects into our veterinary science curriculum. In the coming months, we'll be exploring animal anatomy through hands-on models and illustrations, deepening our understanding of how structure relates to function. Your support has made a lasting impact, and I can't wait to see how these experiences continue to inspire my students!","fullyFundedDate":1733227691120,"projectUrl":"project/barking-up-the-right-tree-a-scientific/8763538/","projectTitle":"Barking Up the Right Tree: A Scientific Art Journey","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8772173_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665081722606","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8772173"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20015","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1370,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"8 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":78.6,"schoolId":20015,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kokomo Area Career Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kokomo Area Career Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/kokomo-school-corporation/kokomo-area-career-center/20015"}
