It has encouraged creativity and problem solving. Students were able to design and create their own models in Tinkercad. This sparked their creativity and encouraged them to think critically as they planned out their designs, troubleshot issues, and refined their work. It also encouraged hands-on learning, where they turned abstract concepts into physical objects. They created a replica of a name tag in Tinkercad and then were able to print them out. This project also fostered student engagement and motivation. Being able to see their designs come to life, gave them a sense of accomplishment and encouraged further exploration for many of them. Additionally it fostered real-world connections. We discussed the many ways 3D printing is widely used in industries like engineering, healthcare, architecture, and manufacturing, including creating prosthetic arms and legs for boys and girls just like them. All of the 5th grade students are excited to be able to use the 3D printer. They love watching it work and see what they have created and designed come to life.","fullyFundedDate":1729868009636,"projectUrl":"project/shaping-tomorrow-3d-printing-for-progre/8764931/","projectTitle":"Shaping Tomorrow: 3d Printing for Progress","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Krug","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3362746"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_126565","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1300,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":20,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"26.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.6,"schoolId":126565,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Edgewood Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Edgewood Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/franklin-township-community-school-corporation/franklin-township-middle-school-west/126565"}
