One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students eagerly teach a new classmate how to play one of our card games.\r\n\r\nThe storage bags, snacks, and flu-season supplies have made our days smoother and healthier. Students feel proud keeping their materials organized, and the hand sanitizer has become part of our daily routines as they remind one another to keep our classroom germ-free. The new books for our library and calm cart were met with huge excitement, and students immediately began exploring new stories and finding cozy spots to read or reset.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be using these books in our upcoming reading units for book clubs and independent reading time. The games and calm cart tools will continue supporting students during transitions and big-feeling moments. Flexible seating allows my kids to move around to complete daily work, which is so nice after sitting in desks all day! My students love all the new books that have arrived, especially the social-emotional learning books that can be found on my calm cart! It is supposed to be a rainy week, and my new indoor recess games will keep my kids occupied AND entertained while they are indoors. They are constantly wanting to read them. We have learned skills that involve retelling a story and nonfiction text features. Reading in my classroom is a constant thing. My students are always wanting to have a book in their hand (sometimes a little too much)! \r\n\r\nThe graphic novels have been a great source for my struggling readers to have pictures to help them decode words. Having these books has given them a chance to hold the big chapter book and feel like they are like everyone else in the class. \r\n\r\nThese donations have boosted my library to give my students items that are interesting to them. They have sparked a love interest in reading for fun which makes reading for academics easier. I was able to purchase headphones, dry erase marker erasers, a classroom rug, post its, and borders in which decorate with. All of these items have created a fun and inviting environment for students to read in. \r\n\r\nThe rug has been the biggest hit. The students have enjoyed the soft comfy area to meet and practice their fluency. They love to be the \"teacher,\" and read aloud to their peers. Fluency rates have increased by 10+ words per minute in the past three weeks. \r\n\r\nAnother item the kids are loving are the headphones. Students now have the means to listen to audiobooks. Our class is currently in first place in AR points. Utilizing the headphones, has assisted students with the quizzes once they have completed a title. \r\n\r\nThe students using the two mentioned literacy stations above, has allowed myself, the teacher, the ability to work on phonological patterns with other student. The kiddos are using whiteboards, dry erase markers, and erasers. Since the beginning of school year the lowest spelling test grade has been a C+. \r\n\r\nIt is with a grateful heart I express a special shout out all that donated toward making my vision a reality.
