The magnetic graph and the fraction game gives students a hands on approach to learning. It also adds an element of fun in learning.\r\n The magnetic extra large dry erase graph is used to strengthen graphing coordinate skills and was used to teach slope of a line. Students use the graph as a tool to teach each other in small group activities, as well. \r\n The fraction domino game builds essential fraction skills, that most of my 7th graders are lacking. The day I introduced the fraction game into the 7th-grade classroom transformed what is usually a cautious, sometimes reluctant math period into an atmosphere buzzing with energy, laughter, and focused excitement. What made the excitement especially powerful was that it wasn't chaotic; it was productive, driven by genuine curiosity and a desire to win that quietly demanded understanding. Mistakes became part of the fun rather than a source of embarrassment, which lowered anxiety and encouraged risk-taking, a crucial component of mathematical growth. By the end of the class, students who had once claimed they \"just didn't get fractions\" were accurately identifying equivalent fractions and mentally finding fraction sums of one.","fullyFundedDate":1767008958001,"projectUrl":"project/fun-with-fractions/9909633/","projectTitle":"Fun With Fractions","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gurney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10350725_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763149587388","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10350725"},{"teacherId":10349188,"projectId":9892781,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my classroom has become a more engaging and supportive learning environment for my special education students. The classroom supplies you provided help remove daily barriers to learning by ensuring students have what they need to feel prepared and confident. When students don't have to worry about missing materials, they are better able to focus on learning and participating in class.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating has been especially powerful for my students. Having choices in where and how they sit allows them to self-regulate, stay comfortable, and remain focused for longer periods of time. Many of my students learn best when they can move or choose a seating option that meets their sensory and attention needs, and your donation has made that possible.\r\n\r\nThe graphic novels have sparked a genuine excitement for reading. Students who once struggled or avoided reading are now eager to pick up a book, engage in discussions, and build their confidence as readers. Your support has helped create a classroom where students feel motivated, valued, and capable. Thank you for believing in my students and supporting their growth.","fullyFundedDate":1766462196816,"projectUrl":"project/fergie-and-friends-classroom-needs/9892781/","projectTitle":"Fergie and Friends' Classroom Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ferguson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10349188"},{"teacherId":10349636,"projectId":9893856,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in helping to fund my project. It was wonderful to have the boxes delivered and surprise the kids with all of the new things for the care closet. After setting it all up, all the students in the school got to see it, and many came up to me, very excited to check it out. \r\n\r\nWith the students knowing that there are clothes, food, and feminine supplies accessible to them, they feel comfortable coming to me when they need something. There have been multiple times when students are now able to take food home when their family is running low. Having a change of clothes is also a big thing for them because they are not embarrassed if something happens and they need a fresh pair of pants or leggings. \r\n\r\nThank you again for making this project a reality and helping all of my students feel comfortable at school.","fullyFundedDate":1763996403382,"projectUrl":"project/bulldog-care-closet/9893856/","projectTitle":"Bulldog Care Closet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fassold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10349636_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767816922551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10349636"},{"teacherId":10000557,"projectId":9258618,"letterContent":"When my students first walked into the classroom and saw the new calming resources, their reactions said it all. They were curious, excited, and some even whispered things like, \"It feels so calm in here.\" I could immediately tell that the atmosphere of the room had shifted, and my students noticed it too.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've been using the calming space every day. I've seen students choose to go there when they feel overwhelmed, and it's been amazing to watch them learn how to calm themselves down before returning to the group. One student who usually shuts down during transitions now goes to the calming area, takes a short break, and comes back ready to participate. Another has learned to grab a sensory tool when they're frustrated instead of acting out. These small moments show me just how much of a difference this environment is making.\r\n\r\nOur next step is teaching my students to use the calming strategies we practice—like breathing exercises and mindfulness—in the calming space on their own. My goal is for them to build skills they can carry outside of the classroom when life feels overwhelming.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students now have a space where they feel safe and supported. You didn't just give us materials—you gave my students tools to manage their emotions and succeed. For that, I'm incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1746786220512,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-success-creating-a-calming-clas/9258618/","projectTitle":"Sensory Success: Creating a Calming Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Emilee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10000557_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y669&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764462451539","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10000557"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_19052","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1413,"numTeachers":63,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":19052,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New Haven Jr Sr High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New Haven Jr Sr High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/east-allen-county-school-district/new-haven-high-school/19052"}
