It's an engaging and productive way to start our mornings, and it sets a positive tone for learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was priceless! They loved using the dot markers during our first week to design their name tags. There's even been a little friendly competition over who gets to sit in the scoop rockers and use the surf desks during reading time—it's been such a fun and motivating experience for them.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to focus on reading fluency, which is a key skill for second graders. They are learning how to be proud of their heritage and countries while trying to adapt to the culture and language of another country. \r\nMy 5th graders were so excited reading these books; they loved talking about them because these topics came naturally to them.
