Thanks to you, our students received sun hats, sunglasses, and water bottles—and their reactions were absolutely priceless. The moment they saw the materials, the classroom erupted in cheers, and their smiles lit up the room. They immediately put on their hats and sunglasses, filled up their new water bottles, and couldn't wait to use them during recess.\r\n\r\nBeyond the excitement, something truly special happened. The students quickly turned their enthusiasm into action. They were so eager to share what they learned about sun safety that a few of them even organized their own mini-lesson outdoors! They used our outdoor classroom space to teach their peers about how to stay safe while playing in the sun. It was amazing to see them take ownership of their learning and turn into confident little teachers.\r\n\r\nThe impact extended beyond the school walls. Several parents reached out to let me know how thankful they were for the materials that came home. Many students proudly showed their families what they received and even taught their parents what they had learned about staying safe during the hot summer months.\r\n\r\nThanks to your contribution, our students not only gained valuable knowledge—they also gained confidence and a sense of responsibility for their well-being and that of others. Our next step is to continue our science and health unit, with students exploring how the environment affects our bodies and how we can make smart choices to stay safe and healthy.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your support. You've made a lasting difference, and we can't thank you enough for giving our students this unforgettable learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1746464322206,"projectUrl":"project/shades-smiles-sun-safe-for-summer/9318414/","projectTitle":"Shades & Smiles: Sun-Safe for Summer!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeGross","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10013364_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746403455062","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10013364"},{"teacherId":7508039,"projectId":9248258,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom project. We began using the clipboards right away to do writing scavenger hunts, looking for vocabulary cards throughout the school and writing down the words that we found. We also used the dry erase markers and erasers immediately, using them to practice phonics skills, sentence composition, and letter formation. The children were so excited to have so many different colors of erasers and markers to choose from! \r\nI am most excited to use the Command Hooks and hole puncher to make sets of words to hang up in the writing center for students to easily grab and use. I will use binder rings to make sets of name cards, how-to-draw cards, and vocabulary cards that students will use to develop their writing. \r\nThank you again for bringing this project to life. Over the last few years, we have gotten a ton of use out of the Lakeshore plastic activity trays. In fact, we use them daily to hold our math and literacy centers, to do arts and crafts, and most recently to plant seeds in! Using the trays helps students develop organization skills and also keeps the classroom items tidy. Additionally, the large amount of laminating sheets is still used daily. I often print out items for classroom use, and can laminate them for repeated use. One of the students' favorite activities is using the trays with laminated picture and word cards that have Velcro dots on them. Students read the words, and Velcro them to the picture that matches. Without your donation, my students will not have access to this and other great learning materials.","fullyFundedDate":1680527458365,"projectUrl":"project/pre-k-classroom-refresh/7147516/","projectTitle":"Pre-K Classroom Refresh","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7508039_orig.png?crop=441,441,x51,y166&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1599074064785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/andersonzion"},{"teacherId":7508039,"projectId":9151084,"letterContent":"We greatly appreciate your donation to the classroom. I plan to use some of the socks to give away as end-of-year gifts, and the rest will stay in the classroom closet stash in case of emergencies. We lost many picture books that students would listen to and re-read, and we also lost nearly all of our decodable texts. These smaller books were organized for each student to practice reading texts at their level. Reading independently helps them become confident readers who are eager to learn more. \r\nWe greatly appreciate you taking the time and funds to support our classroom library. We like to practice on the white boards before drawing our pictures to go with our writing projects. My students feel much more confident after practicing on the boards. Confident drawing leads to confident word and sentence writers, so thank you for helping!\r\nWe also use the lined side of the boards to practice our handwriting every day. At the beginning of the year, we introduce the lines and how to form each letter correctly on the lines.
