This task allowed my 5th graders to be role models and create something that hundreds of students walk by every day. They were very excited and proud of themselves after choosing the posters and arranging them throughout the entire hallway.\r\nAdditionally, students enjoyed the new Lego set during our cold indoor recess days. My early childhood and elementary students who work in auditory awareness and sound identification have been enjoying these sound puzzles and mystery shakers so much and it's helping them to put true meaning to the sounds that are around them visually. These materials are so motivating and engaging for them! \r\n\r\nAnother truly incredible thing that has come from these visual sound materials, are that my students are able to see, hear and then apply language to the objects and concepts that they are learning about in every day life (sounds in a house, sounds of transportation, sounds of animals, etc.) Becuase of this, I have been able to hear and see some of my students flourish from non-verbal communicators to verbally being able to express the name for objects after hearing what they sound like and it has been so so heart warming to see their language bloom! Their faces break into smiles when they apply what they've learned and know that what they're verbalizing has meaning and can be understood very clearly by others around them. School is becoming more fun for them because they are learning that everything around them has a name and they can advocate for themselves by pointing, gesturing, signing and voicing for themselves to show what they want and identify what is requested of them. \r\nThank you, from the bottom of my heart for being so thoughtful and generous and for helping my students so much!","fullyFundedDate":1719578069989,"projectUrl":"project/auditory-awareness-fun-for-my-deaf-stude/8382104/","projectTitle":"Auditory Awareness Fun for my Deaf Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pierson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8918997_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673281283323","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8918997"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30687","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":968,"numTeachers":80,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":34.3,"schoolId":30687,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Woodland Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Woodland Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/woodland-school-district-50/woodland-intermediate-school/30687"}
