We recently read the story of the Gingerbread Man. After reading the story several times, we got out the Gingerbread Man STEM storytelling kit. We reread the story from the kit and made a new ending for the story. The children decided that we needed to make a boat for the gingerbread man to cross the river. So, they took turns making boats and rafts and testing them to see if they would float and carry the gingerbread man across the river. \r\n\r\nIn the upcoming months, we will utilize the remaining kits. During our Building Study this year, we will be reading the stories about Goldie Locks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs. My students will learn and problem-solve how to fix Little Bear's chair. With the Three Little Pigs Kit, they will use problem-solving skills to build houses for the three little pigs. They will also reenact the stories and add their own endings to them.
