Your thoughtful gifts have transformed our learning space into a much more comfortable, responsive environment tailored to our students' diverse needs.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating options are already making a noticeable difference in daily focus and engagement. The soft bean bag provides a cozy, low-pressure spot for independent reading and self-regulation, giving students a quiet sanctuary when they feel overwhelmed. The chair cushions offer supportive sensory input and subtle wiggle room, which helps students who struggle to sit still stay grounded, comfortable, and attentive during desktop work.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the sand timers serve as a brilliant visual tool for time management and transitions. Watching the sand fall gives students a concrete understanding of time, making it easier for them to pace themselves during tasks, share resources, and mentally prepare to transition between activities without anxiety.\r\n\r\nBy providing these essential tools, you have created a classroom environment where students feel supported, understood, and equipped to succeed every day. Because of your support, our classroom now has valuable sensory tools that make a real, daily difference in helping our students feel grounded, calm, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe gentle, deep-pressure sensation provided by the weighted sensory plushies helps students self-regulate their nervous systems when they feel anxious or overstimulated. Holding or resting with a weighted plushie allows them to soothe their bodies, stay present, and focus during reading time or whole-group instruction.\r\n\r\nAt the same time, the color-changing putty offers a wonderful tactile outlet for students who need movement to process information. Squeezing, stretching, and watching the putty shift colors gives them a quiet fidget tool that channels excess energy, refocused their attention, and builds fine motor control without distracting others.\r\n\r\nBy helping us meet these diverse sensory needs, you have helped create a far more inclusive, comfortable, and supportive learning environment. They get so excited when they find another animal or bug! Others like the softer putty so they can stretch it to see the sparkles. \r\nI have other students that enjoy sitting and watching the jelly fish and fish \"swimming\" in the water. We are currently using the tactile manipulatives to move beyond worksheets and into 3D problem-solving. A specific highlight occurred this week when a student, who usually struggles with the concept of addition, used the new stacking counters to build \"number towers.\" For the first time, he could physically see and feel the difference between 5 and 10, leading to a breakthrough in his understanding that traditional paper-and-pencil tasks just couldn't provide. \r\nWhen the boxes arrived and we unboxed the materials together, the classroom was buzzing with pure joy! One of my students literally cheered, \"Is this for us to play with?\" They were particularly drawn to the vibrant colors and the textures of the new tools. The sensory wobble cushions were an immediate hit—there was a sense of relief in the room as students realized they could finally move their bodies while staying engaged with their math games. It felt like a celebration of learning.\r\nWhen the boxes arrived and we unboxed the materials together, the classroom was buzzing with pure joy! I am blown away by the generosity shown toward my classroom, especially considering many of the donors were parents or family members of my students. My students were over the moon when the packages arrived to our classroom and were eager to unbox our new materials! The entire project was centered around imaginative play, and the empty boxes the materials were delivered in soon sparked creativity as well. While they patiently waited for the new supplies to be assembled, they turned the boxes into rocket ships, houses, stores and more! \r\n\r\nNow that everything has been built for the students to use, their imaginations are only continuing to take off. The new table has become a diner, an office, a store front, and a place for family dinners. The tool bench has had an assortment of new creations constructed at it. The sensory books give a nice break when they are dysregulated. The fidgets and marble mazes also help keep their hands occupied and safe. The timers from this project are amazing. They provide a visual countdown with a rainbow (which the kids love!) and the alarm is not overwhelming. There is also an option to use a light instead of the timer which is wonderful. The breathing balls are definitely the highlight of the space!\r\nWe use the cushions when the kids get to find a comfy spot to read or write around the room. The headphones help when students need a quieter environment to focus. One of my favorite parts of this grant is that my daughter took great pride and ownership in setting up the spaces in a way she thought my students would enjoy.
