We are currently using the tactile manipulatives to move beyond worksheets and into 3D problem-solving. A specific highlight occurred this week when a student, who usually struggles with the concept of addition, used the new stacking counters to build \"number towers.\" For the first time, he could physically see and feel the difference between 5 and 10, leading to a breakthrough in his understanding that traditional paper-and-pencil tasks just couldn't provide. \r\nWhen the boxes arrived and we unboxed the materials together, the classroom was buzzing with pure joy! One of my students literally cheered, \"Is this for us to play with?\" They were particularly drawn to the vibrant colors and the textures of the new tools. The sensory wobble cushions were an immediate hit—there was a sense of relief in the room as students realized they could finally move their bodies while staying engaged with their math games. It felt like a celebration of learning.\r\nWhen the boxes arrived and we unboxed the materials together, the classroom was buzzing with pure joy! I am blown away by the generosity shown toward my classroom, especially considering many of the donors were parents or family members of my students. My students were over the moon when the packages arrived to our classroom and were eager to unbox our new materials! The entire project was centered around imaginative play, and the empty boxes the materials were delivered in soon sparked creativity as well. While they patiently waited for the new supplies to be assembled, they turned the boxes into rocket ships, houses, stores and more! \r\n\r\nNow that everything has been built for the students to use, their imaginations are only continuing to take off. The new table has become a diner, an office, a store front, and a place for family dinners. The tool bench has had an assortment of new creations constructed at it. The dollhouse has fostered numerous opportunities for students to practice turn-taking, sharing, and problem-solving, and much more! I know these materials will be incredibly useful for years to come and will facilitate endless learning opportunities for numerous students. \r\n\r\nI am beyond thankful this project was funded, and cannot express my appreciation enough.","fullyFundedDate":1762742602256,"projectUrl":"project/imagination-station/9586152/","projectTitle":"Imagination Station!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6607588_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y208&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760707057989","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6607588"},{"teacherId":10037225,"projectId":9518204,"letterContent":"I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone who donated to my classroom project. The new storage shelf has been a lifesaver for me so I can store table activities in an easily accessible way. I have also been able to give students a dedicated math center space where they can explore math manipulatives. \r\n\r\nMy students have been enjoying the independence of being able to choose a table activity off of the shelf and take it to the table without my assistance. It has also given them a concrete way of cleaning up each activity. The sensory books give a nice break when they are dysregulated. The fidgets and marble mazes also help keep their hands occupied and safe. The timers from this project are amazing. They provide a visual countdown with a rainbow (which the kids love!) and the alarm is not overwhelming. There is also an option to use a light instead of the timer which is wonderful. The breathing balls are definitely the highlight of the space!\r\nWe use the cushions when the kids get to find a comfy spot to read or write around the room. The headphones help when students need a quieter environment to focus. One of my favorite parts of this grant is that my daughter took great pride and ownership in setting up the spaces in a way she thought my students would enjoy. These materials have been an amazing addition to my students' educational experience allowing for more focus and attention to be spent on the difficult of learning to read.","fullyFundedDate":1750431194433,"projectUrl":"project/calming-classroom-and-safe-place/9199987/","projectTitle":"Calming Classroom and Safe Place","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Casey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4275381_orig.jpg?crop=2839,2839,x0,y123&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1574202930852","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4275381"},{"teacherId":9975097,"projectId":9205890,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of bookshelves, fireplace set, and magnet board to our classroom. By using the blue and green kinetic sand as well as the sandcastle parts they can build castles in the sand. They are also able to mix the two colors to discover a new third color, teal. I am looking forward to also using the mini bricks and play excavators to make a play construction sensory experience.\r\nWhen the students first saw the sensory table they were very eager to play in it. While explaining how to play in the table and the rules of keeping the sand in the table they were having trouble resisting the urge to play right away. This sensory table has been a HIT during playtime. We have to use a sand timer so all the children who want to play have an opportunity to play. \r\nThe next steps for this table are to turn it into a construction zone where kids can build mini houses and use the excavators to move sand around. Then I plan on taking the sand out and filling the table with water and the fishing toys. I'll also add in the letter sponges to promote letter identification. In the spring time I plan on putting dirt in the table and letting the students explore gardening.
