This year, through your generous donations for my writing project, I was able to get LCD writing tablets, individual student double-sided whiteboards, and a set of 1 to 100 pop it game boards. \r\n\r\nMy students use the whiteboards for practicing their spelling words for the week. I also use it to help students develop phoneme-grapheme mapping skills for phonemic awareness. Students also use the whiteboard in math to try to solve their own math problems before we discuss the answer and make connections together in class. \r\n\r\nStudents use the LCD doodle boards for after they have finished their work and are waiting for other students to finish. I was disappointed to find out that this item was sold out and would not be able to be purchase with the funds I was given. Donor's Choose ask me to find replacements for this item. Since I was going to need to purchase Welcome to First Grade folders for open house for students to use as a take home folder anyway, I decided to use these funds to purchase folders in Math and Welcome to First Grade. \r\n\r\nMonths later, when the All-in-One Magnetic Phonics Kits were available I purchase those items out of my own pocket. I am now using these phonics kits during small group RTI times to help students use phoneme-grapheme mapping to develop their phonemic awareness skills.
