With your donation I was able to buy a class set of the novel, \"The Wild Robot\". I have read this novel to my students every year and they really enjoyed learning abut Roz and her adventures. The only problem I had is that I had one copy of the book so I read this as a read aloud. My students adored the book and wanted to read it on their own during silent reading. My problem was I only had one book and many students wanting to read \"The Wild Robot\". So, this year I had the idea to try to get a class copy. I thought, if I am going to do a read aloud with them, why couldn't they have a copy to read along with me?\r\n\r\nMany of my students are reading below grade level and do not have access to books outside of school. I knew that reading this book, along with me, would help with not only their reading fluency and comprehension but also develop their love for reading. Your generous donation has helped with these important skills.\r\n\r\nWe did many comprehension activities with this book. We also learned about character traits and wrote about the various characters. It is difficult to get students to write, but my students really liked writing about these characters because they were invested in this story.\r\n\r\nAfter reading \"The Wild Robot\", the students enjoyed it so much that they wanted me to read the next book in the series called \"The Wild Robot Escapes\". Also, at Christmas, when we wrote letters to Santa, almost every one of my students asked for their own copy of the whole series of \"The Wild Robot\". \r\n\r\nSo, as you can see, your donation has helped to develop my students love for reading. I have no doubt that because of you, many of my students will become life long readers. Once again thank you very much, not only from me, but also the third graders at Childs Elementary School in Robbins, Illinois.","fullyFundedDate":1733256368634,"projectUrl":"project/what-is-a-wild-robot/8636033/","projectTitle":"What is a Wild Robot?","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Welke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9407798"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25755","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":130,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":65,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"21.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.9,"schoolId":25755,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Childs Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Childs Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/posen-robbins-sch-dist-143-5/childs-elementary-school/25755"}
