With the many cold and snowy days this winter, indoor recess became a regular part of our routine. These new items have transformed my students' playtime, giving them meaningful ways to be creative and interact with one another indoors. They were so ecstatic to see the addition of magnetic tiles and LEGOs. Each recess, they eagerly worked together to build new structures, from houses and castles to stables and garages to house their other toys and cars. I would watch as they planned out what they would build, encouraged each other to rebuild when their tower toppled over, and, of course, just enjoyed themselves and had fun. In addition to these materials, I am so grateful for the sensory toys, sand for our sand table, toy cars, and dramatic play items such as the doctor's kit and baking supplies. These items have helped support important social-emotional skills during their playtime. \r\n\r\nEven when indoor recess becomes less frequent, we will continue to utilize these items during center time. In our next unit, we will be exploring dinosaurs. I already have plans for students to recreate magnetic tile images shaped like dinosaurs. Furthermore, I will hide dinosaurs and fossils in our sand table so they can pretend to be paleontologists. They absolutely love these hands-on activities that get incorporated into our classroom instruction, and your generosity allows learning to be exciting.","fullyFundedDate":1762267630079,"projectUrl":"project/play-pretend-and-build/9821970/","projectTitle":"Play, Pretend, and Build!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dickerman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10310037"},{"teacherId":9821459,"projectId":9903954,"letterContent":"Your donations have made it possible to have a better school store experience for our students.
