With your support, we were able to acquire the resources and materials our students desperately needed to develop critical navigation and wayfinding skills. These tools have transformed how our students approach learning—empowering them to explore, discover, and navigate both physical and conceptual spaces with greater confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nWhat makes your gift particularly special is that it goes far beyond a simple transaction. You've invested in our students' futures and demonstrated that you believe in the power of education to change lives. Your generosity sends a powerful message to our young people: their growth matters, and there are caring individuals in the community who support their success.\r\n\r\nAlready, we're seeing the positive impact:\r\n\r\nStudents are engaging more actively with navigation concepts\r\nConfidence and independence in learning has increased\r\nClassroom discussions have become richer and more meaningful\r\nOur students feel valued and supported by their community\r\nThis project would not have been possible without your thoughtfulness and commitment to educational equity. The initial activity they had in each class is epic. Every student was focused and quiet observing their classmates operating the robots and navigating along the number line while waiting for their turn. \r\nEach product has its unique features so students are so engaged working on how they will command/control the robots to land/stop on their target coordinates. The 7th graders focused primarily on navigating along the number line with the Thames&Kosmos roboDog performing the forward and backward movement and sitting and standing movement. The 8th grade students had so much fun in the assembling part and setting up the robots. They did initial programming with the KAI robot upon assembly and performed commands to make the robot move to their target location. \r\nThere are 3 particular students who want to explore more on robotics so I am giving them their extra time to work on them since they are early finishers in my classwork. This project is definitely a great experience for my students and the whole classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1759526595770,"projectUrl":"project/stem-superstars-boosting-math-and-tech/9744151/","projectTitle":"STEM Superstars: Boosting Math and Tech Skills with Robotics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garofil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9703936_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726192199031","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/aileen"},{"teacherId":5520880,"projectId":9227952,"letterContent":"My sixth through eighth graders have picture books that they now use to introduce science topics. For example, we completed our STEM project on Very Good Hats. Then in October we will use Just a Box for students to create and engineer a project that uses only box but isn't a box. For example, students could make a robot or a tent. This has been a fun way to introduce topics like, Newton's Three laws of motion while reading the Newton and Curie: the science squirrels. Even though the students are older, they do enjoy being read to and practicing vocabulary introduction with the books.
