Because of your contribution, our classroom libraries now reflect a wider range of cultures, languages, and lived experiences. This project has been transformative, not only for the shelves that now overflow with stories, but also for the hearts and minds of the students who read them.\r\n\r\nFor many of our bilingual learners, this is the first time they are seeing their own language and culture represented in the classroom. When a child opens a book and reads in Spanish, Ukrainian, or English about characters who look like them and live in families like theirs, the joy and pride they feel is immeasurable. These moments of recognition help them build confidence, develop stronger literacy skills, and know that their voices matter.\r\n\r\nEqually important, our students who are not bilingual are being introduced to diverse perspectives and traditions through these books. They are learning that the world is rich with many cultures, histories, and ways of being. Reading together has opened doors for meaningful conversations about empathy, respect, and community—lessons that extend far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project is already visible. Students eagerly choose books during reading time, often asking to bring them home to share with their families. Older students are writing reflections and making connections between their lives and the stories, while younger ones are excited to hear familiar songs, folktales, and rhymes in two languages. The collection has also become a bridge for parents, who can now engage more deeply with their child's learning because the texts are accessible in their home languages.\r\n\r\nThis project has created not just a library of books, but a library of belonging. It has reminded our students that their identities are celebrated and that their dreams deserve space on the shelves.
