The pencils have made writing more comfortable and focused, while the colorful, scented markers add a fun, sensory element to their math and art activities. The place value flip chart has become an essential tool during our math lessons, helping students visualize numbers and understand how digits change depending on their place value. It's been especially helpful during group work, where students collaborate to solve problems using the chart.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was contagious! Many of them were eager to try the smelly markers right away, sharing laughs and stories about their favorite scents. The flip chart caught their attention immediately, sparking curiosity about place values and how numbers are built. Some students who usually struggle with math found the visual aid very helpful, boosting their confidence as they engaged more actively in lessons. Overall, the fresh supplies brought a new energy to the classroom and motivated students to participate more enthusiastically.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generous donors, we're now gearing up to deepen our place value lessons by integrating the flip chart into more complex activities, such as creating and comparing large numbers and exploring decimals. Students will use the pencils and markers to record their work and illustrate their understanding creatively. Our next steps include small group projects where students will use the flip chart to solve real-world math problems, reinforcing their grasp of place value and number sense. We're excited to keep building on this foundation and share the progress with our donors as the students continue to grow!","fullyFundedDate":1740021775579,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-necessities/8990482/","projectTitle":"Classroom Necessities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Guillen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9465033_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708569163629","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9465033"},{"teacherId":9594052,"projectId":8941741,"letterContent":"This project allowed my students to take their research on an important person from history and create a visual to share with their families! Our 2nd grade team was able to invite parents to come see our students present their trifolds. They were able to show off all the hard work they were doing in class! All of the students were incredibly excited to complete this project. They were able to work with other students to create this project. Your contributions have made a significant impact on our learning environment, and I am excited to share how we are using the new resources. One of the most transformative additions is the classroom rug, which has become a gathering place for our morning meetings and group discussions. The giant magnetic fractions have turned our math lessons into interactive, hands-on experiences, allowing students to visualize and manipulate fractions in a fun way. The fake fur saucer chair in our sensory/calming corner provides a peaceful retreat for students who may need a moment to regroup, enhancing their focus and engagement during lessons.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless. They were filled with excitement and curiosity, eagerly exploring the magnetic fractions and immediately wanting to use them in their math activities. The vibrant fluorescent light covers brightened up our room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages learning. The snacks you provided have also been a delightful surprise, and they have fostered a sense of community during our snack breaks, giving students a chance to bond over shared treats and conversations.\r\nYour contributions are not just materials; they are tools that empower my students to engage in their learning more deeply. Currently, we are working on a project that integrates math and art, where students will use the magnetic fractions to create fraction art pieces. This project not only reinforces their understanding of fractions but also allows them to express their creativity. The liquid visual timers will be used during our project to help students manage their time effectively, promoting independence and self-regulation in their work.\r\nThank you once again for your support and for believing in our students and their potential. Your donations have enhanced our classroom environment, and I look forward to sharing more about our ongoing projects and the positive effects these resources have on our learning journey.
