When my students first saw the new materials, there was a buzz of excitement! They immediately noticed that the sensory rings and mesh marbles were discreet enough that using them wouldn't make them \"stand out\" from their peers—a huge worry for middle schoolers.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting them to good use every day. I notice students who typically asks for multiple bathroom breaks just to move around are able to stay seated the entire time. In one of my classes, students will line up to pick their fidget at the beginning of class. There have been students ask to have a chair band at their seat who I would not have initial thought would benefit from one. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are preparing to dive into algebraic topics, which will require distinct attention to detail and critical thinking. The transition to middle school means the workload is increasing, and thanks to your donation, my students now have the coping strategies to handle it. These fidgets are ensuring that as we move into harder material, their physical need for movement won't cause them to miss out on crucial learning steps. Since the beginning of the school year students have been able to benefit from the learning tools and visual timers provided by your donations. \r\n\r\nThe visual timers have been so useful in providing visual representations of time to students with sensory and ADHD needs. Students benefit from having a visual representation of the time for an activity and viewing the time left for a task. This helps motivate some students who have processing and focusing issues to use their time wisely. During independent reading time, a less desirable activity for some of my students, the visual timer gives students a concrete amount of time left to the reading time. \r\n\r\nThe digital clock with the date has been really helpful in student independence and helping students stay off their phone. Instead of asking what time or day it is, students can independently utilize the clock. This year we are really strictly enforcing the phones off and away during the day policy. Having the digital clock helps students not need to look at their phones and keep them from getting distracted by their phones. \r\n\r\nThank you so much again. Students also used other items such as leaves, pipe cleaners, and other found objects to print a second cyanotype design. \r\n\r\nThe prints needed about five minutes to be exposed to the sun, rinsed off, dried, and a touch of color was added to the finished prints. \r\n\r\nThe artwork turned out great, and it is a project that will be repeated in the future because it was so much fun!","fullyFundedDate":1758281578076,"projectUrl":"project/solar-art-fun/9520850/","projectTitle":"Solar Art Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hearth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp230356_orig.png?crop=272,272,x425,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1591206157819","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hearth"},{"teacherId":7718668,"projectId":8960725,"letterContent":"Thank you for this gift.
