For example, the cube shelves and sensory bins have become a hub for all \"Exploration Stations,\" where students engage with hands-on materials that boost focus and creativity. Just last week, during a group reading session, several students used the calming pillows and light-up owl in our sensory tent to regulate their emotions, allowing them to participate more fully and confidently.\r\n\r\nMy students were overjoyed and genuinely excited! Seeing the colorful book bins, new stools, and cozy rug transformed the space into a welcoming environment that they are eager to spend time in. Many expressed surprise and happiness at having a special sensory tent and calming area, which quickly became their favorite spot in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWith these new resources, we are moving forward with a project focused on social-emotional learning and collaborative reading. Students will use the sensory items and calming area to develop self-regulation skills, while the book bins and cube shelves support independent and group reading activities. Next, we plan to incorporate more student-led presentations and creative storytelling, where they can choose their favorite books and sensory tools to enhance their learning and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1753975115420,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-students-with-autism-through/9437980/","projectTitle":"Empowering Students With Autism Through Sensory Supports and Adapted Books.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cherrie-Clark","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10066176"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28054","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":252,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.5,"schoolId":28054,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lowell Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lowell Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/community-unit-school-district-200/lowell-elementary-school/28054"}
