They've helped my students build skills like vocabulary growth, comprehension, and making connections to the world around them. Our daily read‑alouds feel more joyful and meaningful now because the stories are more diverse and engaging. My students are talking more, asking better questions, and using new words they hear in the books. What has been most special is seeing how excited they get when they recognize something from their own culture or their own life in a story. Some students who were quieter during reading time are now the first to raise their hands because they finally see themselves in the books we share. These texts have truly opened up our classroom and made reading a place where everyone feels included and represented.\r\nThank you for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1774963589112,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-look-like-us-celebrating-our/10164535/","projectTitle":"Books That Look Like Us: Celebrating Our Cultures Through Read-Alouds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Penarrubia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8287785_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738691502365","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8287785"},{"teacherId":9836507,"projectId":8943127,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom library. Because of you, my students now have access to new, engaging books that are already making a meaningful difference in how they read, think, and learn each day.\r\n\r\nThese books do more than spark interest—they help students build essential reading skills. Through these texts, students are practicing close reading, identifying main ideas, making inferences, and supporting their thinking with evidence from the text. Many of the books also introduce rich vocabulary and expose students to different perspectives, genres, and topics, helping them grow both as readers and as critical thinkers.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, joyful experience. Students read independently, in small groups, and during read-alouds. You can often find students curled up with a book during independent reading time, eagerly discussing characters and events with a partner, or excitedly recommending a favorite title to a classmate. Our library has become a shared space where curiosity and conversation thrive.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were once reluctant readers are especially enjoying these new books. Some students are proud to finally find books that match their interests and reading levels, while others are excited to challenge themselves with longer or more complex texts. I've seen students who rarely chose a book before now asking for extra reading time—and that is a powerful change.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has helped create a classroom where students feel motivated, confident, and excited to read. Thank you for investing in our students and for helping us build a love of reading that will stay with them far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1741545918828,"projectUrl":"project/diverse-library-for-4th-grade/8943127/","projectTitle":"Diverse Library for 4th grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Saldivar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9836507"},{"teacherId":10232413,"projectId":9664524,"letterContent":"How can I thank you? This is my first year working as a school social worker. I could not even fathom providing the resources I did without DonorsChoose.org! \r\n\r\nFor students with disabilities, more often than not, their way of communicating might not be readily understood. Students use AAC devices (iPads for communication). With your help, I was able to provide chargers so that their voice did not \"die\" during the school day impacting their learning. For those who don't have an AAC but respond to visual assistance, the laminator was able to create visual cue cards that will not be destroyed as quickly as regular paper cards would! On top of that, the Velcro helped create visual schedules for students that have a difficult time with transitions.\r\n\r\nAll and all, between the sensory toys and communication systems, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your generosity!!\r\n\r\nHappy Holidays!!","fullyFundedDate":1758761631936,"projectUrl":"project/communication-without-barriers/9752766/","projectTitle":"Communication Without Barriers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Natalia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10275815_orig.jpg?crop=631,631,x238,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758672983327","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10275815"},{"teacherId":9732023,"projectId":9060089,"letterContent":"I am writing to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous support of my project, Reading Through the Winter!
