We use the markers and erasers nearly every week! Students are able to write on their desks with the expo markers because it can be easily erased given the surface of the desk. I have students practice skills with complete quick computations. Since students are allowed to write on their desks, there is always high engagement!\r\n\r\nMy students are always excited for new materials, but they were particularly excited to see the markers in a variety of colors. We are also grateful for the erasers because typically my students have to waste a paper towel or use their sleeves of their sweatshirts. Your contributions help us reduce waste and prevent students from getting expo marker on their clothes.\r\n\r\nWe just finished up on state testing and students will be moving into content that is above grade level. My 8th grade students will begin Algebra and my 7th grade students will start with 8th grade geometric transformations. Our kids LOVE making art projects while they learn! \r\n\r\nLately, we used the cut-out shapes to make a Pigeon inspired by the book our kids read that week \"The Pigeon Needs a Bath.\" It's amazing when kids realized that shapes are all around them, and they could put basic shapes together and oriented them in different ways to create shapes they wanted. They learned the name of the shapes, described the shapes, compared shapes, and shapes remained the same as they oriented them differently. One memorable moment was loading our first batch of pinch pot sculptures onto the shelves; the students were amazed to see how their work transformed after being fired, sparking even more excitement for what's to come.\r\n\r\nWhen the kiln shelves arrived, my students were thrilled. They couldn't believe how quickly we could begin using the kiln, and their excitement was contagious—they kept asking, \"When can we fire our pieces?\" Right now, students are working on everything from pinch pots to coil pots to cookie jars, with each piece showing their growing creativity and technical ability. They organize a game (typically boys vs. girls) on the small patch of turf.
