One of the most memorable moments was watching a group of students who usually struggle with communication work together to make slushies for the whole class—asking for help, sharing tools, and celebrating when the mixture turned out perfectly. What started as a fun treat has become a powerful functional learning activity that builds teamwork, communication, and independence. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the slushie machine, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity! Some smiled ear-to-ear, others clapped, and a few asked immediately, \"Can we make one today?\" For many of them, it was a brand-new experience, and they were eager to touch, explore, and learn how it worked. Their enthusiasm filled the room, and it turned the day into a celebration.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to expand the Life Skills Café by letting students choose flavors, create visual recipe cards, and practice communication skills by \"ordering\" slushies from their peers.
