These snacks were requested for a very special group of eighth grade students who earned the opportunity to participate in a high school level algebra class after school. These students diligently participated in the class, and were often hungry as they stayed after school to do so. They were very thankful to receive the popcorn, juices, rice cakes, chips, cookies, and candy. My students really appreciated the healthy snacks that you so graciously provided. Their eyes lit up when I opened the packages. They were thrilled to enjoy the fruit cups, fruit snacks, juices, granola bars, and veggie snacks. It was such a pleasure seeing them excited about healthy food choices because I was able to relate this to information that they learned in science class, and to help them see how healthy food choices are important in life. It also helped me to reinforce that healthy snacks are tasty, and good for the body. They were able to write about and draw themselves as superheroes. They really enjoyed it! The students put together their own bulletin board and we are currently adding their writings to it. \r\n Next we will be making vision boards about plans for the next 5 years. Some of our students have already started, because our students are middle schoolers we wanted to focus on high school and college goals. Students will also write a synopsis about their plans to accompany their board. We will then have a presentation day where they can share wih their classmates.\r\n We are overly grateful for the materials we received.
