The cushion and flashlights to read in the dark really created an impactful experience for them. As a teacher, it takes a lot to create the ideal environment for my students to learn and foster their love for reading. Asking you for flashlights, and cushions was step 1. My goal was to use what you gave me to create a reading experience that the children never forgot. My students live in apartments or houses with other families and/or big families. This means that they rarely have a quiet or private space to read. With your donation, I was able to create a space for students to be comfortable and focus only on reading. My students picked a spot and read. Uninterrupted, focused, calm reading. My students begged to do it again so much it became part of our weekly routine. This uninterrupted reading time gave the opportunity for students to focus on what they were reading and become hooked on books. \r\nOne of the hardest things I face as a teacher is getting the students to read is a challenge. There are so many factors that are constantly taking from our focus and a lot of my students have so many responsibilities out of school that reading time is a luxury. Thank you to your donations YOU were able to provide a beautiful experience for children who might not have gotten it otherwise.
