These items are not luxuries—they are vital to helping students feel confident, healthy, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nBy meeting these basic needs, you've helped remove a significant barrier that too often stands between students and their ability to focus, participate, and succeed in school. With the new books you've helped provide, my students are engaging with literature in ways that are personal, meaningful, and empowering. We've been able to introduce texts that reflect their identities, challenge their thinking, and spark real conversations about the world around them.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading isn't silent or passive—it's collaborative and alive. Students read aloud together, annotate, debate, and draw connections between the stories we read and their own lives. With books like Fat Ham, for example, students are learning to analyze themes like grief, gender, identity, and justice, while also comparing contemporary voices to classic literature like Hamlet. This kind of synthesis builds critical thinking and empathy, and gives students tools to express themselves in writing and discussion.\r\n\r\nOne student who usually shies away from class participation has found their voice through our recent readings—speaking up with sharp observations about character motivation and even asking to borrow the book to read ahead at home. It's been incredible to watch their confidence grow.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom library isn't just a shelf of books—it's a gateway to curiosity, conversation, and self-discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1748869786921,"projectUrl":"project/turning-pages-changing-lives/9386927/","projectTitle":"Turning Pages, Changing Lives","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Connelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7104299_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748609322465","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7104299"},{"teacherId":3006560,"projectId":8895557,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contribution to this project.
